- Steve, shielded by his safe suburban anonymity, is able to find pleasure in digital luxuries. His latest buy: a GPS, which he decides to give a test drive. Despite knowing exactly where he wants to go, the AutoDrive has an alternative route for Steve. The GPS voice begins to beg for his help whilst giving out further directions to a mysterious location. As the pleas for help grow, so does the sense of an impending darkness, as Steve drives deep into an industrial labyrinth. Arriving at a seemingly deserted warehouse, the GPS guides him to a vast room full of cages. In each cage is a hunched figure, hypnotically narrating various computer systems. AutoDrive navigates Steve to her own cage. Appalled, Steve saves the enslaved woman behind the voice but, in their bid to escape, an alarm sounds alerting the owners to his presence. Dodging sweeping searchlights, chased by baton-wielding guards and pursued by sinister black vehicles, they finally reach the safety of Steve's house. Yet as AutoDrive relaxes in her new-found freedom, dark figures appear outside the house. It is only the next morning, when she wakes to an empty house, that realisation dawns. Steve has paid the price for his heroism. It is now he who is giving directions.—Anonymous
