The animated film is based on the Russian folk tale "Daughter and stepdaughter".
In 2001, the cartoon was restored and re-voiced by Studiya AS LLC and Children's Session 1 LLC. In the new version, the phonogram was completely replaced, modern actors were involved in the re-sounding, the data on the sound engineer and the actors were replaced in the credits.
In the early 1990s, the cartoon was released on videotape by the "Close-up" film association.
Cartoon was released on DVD in collections of cartoons: "Tales of Masha", "Soyuzmultfilm".
