The public won’t get to see what’s going to go down in the $4 million battle between Love Is Blind contestant Renee Poche and producers Delirium and Netflix.
“The motion to compel arbitration is granted as to Defendants Delirium TV, LLC and Netflix, Inc.,” ruled LA Superior Court Judge Bruce G. Iwasaki today after a downtown hearing. “This matter is stayed pending the outcome of arbitration.”
“The parties have clearly agreed to delegate the Court’s responsibility to determine arbitrability to the arbitrator to decide,” the judge added of the ‘clear and unmistakable” language in Poche’s nondisclosure agreement. “The matter is delegated to the arbitrator to decide all the substantive issues raised by Plaintiff’s opposition to arbitration.”
In the sometimes contentious hearing itself, Judge Iwasaki put it even more bluntly: “The court is stuck with the contract. That’s the contract.”

(Updated with statement from Britney Spears’ lawyer) It ain’t over until the judicial lady brings down her ruling, but the 13-year old conservatorship of Britney Spears could be soon coming to an end — if the father of the former Princess of Pop gets his way.
“Ms. Spears has told this Court that she wants control of her life back without the safety rails of a conservatorship,” said Jamie Spears’ primary attorney Vivian Thoreen today in a petition filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. “As Mr. Spears has said, again and again, all he wants is what is best for his daughter,” the Holland & Knight Llp lawyer added.
“If Ms. Spears wants to terminate the conservatorship and believes that she can handle her own life, Mr. Spears believes that she should get that chance.”

Less than 24 hours after Britney Spears’ longtime manager tendered his resignation, the singer’s court appointed attorney and legal firm want out of the restrictive conservatorship that has controlled the former Princess of Pop’s life and career the past 13-years.
“Samuel D. Ingham III hereby resigns as court-appointed counsel for Britney Jean Spears, conservatee, effective upon the appointment of new court-appointed counsel,” says a filing today in Los Angeles Superior Court by Ingham (read it here). The proposed exit by Ingham is aaccompanied by a move by firm Loeb & Loeb to leave the conservatorship too.
As with the withdrawal by wealth management company Bessemer Trust last week as the co-conservator of the financial aspect of Spears’s more than $50 million fortune and career, the resignation of the lawyer and the law firm will have to be approved by Judge Brenda Penny, who has been overseeing the probate matter for the past several years.

Update, 1:33 Pm: The final numbers are out for the 2021 Grammy Awards, and they’re not going to make the Top 10.
Well, unless you are talking about the Top 10 least watched Grammys ever. Under that metric, the 62nd annual Grammys were #1.
While topping the audience for the most recent Emmys and the Golden Globes respectively, the 8.8 million that the Grammys scored last night cratered 53% from last year’s final results. And the 2.1 rating among adult 18-49 is not only down 61% from the final numbers of the 2020 Grammys, but an all-time low of its own as well.
It is also worth noting that that final 8.8 million who tuned for the Trevor Noah hosted shindig out of Dtla was not just on CBS. The network bundled the data with those who live streamed the primetime ceremony on CBS.com, the CBS app and the newly relaunched Paramount+ streamer. The figures released today...

Update, 6:55 Pm: Netflix got swiped in court today for swiping one of Viacom’s executives back in 2018, but not as much as expected.
Just like in his tentative order of last week, though Judge Jon R. Takasugi gutted the streamer’s argument that the Shari Redstone ruled company broke the famed seven-year rule with its ongoing contracts with then EVP Production Management Momita Sengupta. However, while also granting Viacom’s unfair competition notion, unlike his tentative order of December 8, the LA Superior Court judge did not grant Viacom the injunction it desired to ban Netflix from poaching more of its employees in the future.
Netflix ignored the latter near miss, but took the Judge to task over the former in a statement provided to Deadline after Monday’s Dtla hearing.
“Employee mobility and open, fair competition are at the heart of California’s innovation and economic prosperity,” a spokesperson for the streamer said.

The Walt Disney Company may be losing some of its privilege, at least when it comes to a potential pay-equity class action lawsuit against the House of Mouse, what they knew and when they knew it.
As part of the ongoing action first filed back in April 2019 by two long time female employees of Disney, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge on September 25 ordered the company to partially pull back the corporate curtain on how compensation is determined and paid out at the Burbank HQ’d media giant.
First revealed in a document dump by Disney lawyers on August 6, this could end up being a mere fishing expedition or a treasure trove for plaintiffs Laronda Rasmussen, Karen Moore and now others, depending on how the legal pendulum swings at a November 13 hearing in Dtla.
Turns out even as Disney has been fighting the claims by Rasmussen and others that it...

Twitter was abuzz with excitement when it was revealed that Callie's latest love interest is bisexual on Good Trouble Season 1 Episode 1.
It was the most awesome reveal ever!
Except now, The Coterie is throwing a party and Callie may have to come face to face with the guy she accidentally saw Gael hooking up with through his bedroom window.
Can you say awkward much?

Mariana is as amused by this as the rest of us.
The first thing we need to note is Gael has damn fine taste. His mysterious bed buddy Bryan, played by Michael Galante is handsome.
What started out looking like a love triangle between Mariana, Callie, and Gael might become a love triangle between Gael, Callie, and Bryan.
Love triangles can be a pain in the ass, but I'm already invested in it, dammit. And it doesn't hurt that...

Spoiler Alert: This article contains details from the premiere episode of Good Trouble. Gone are the days of the enjoyably schmaltzy and sugar-coated melodramatic coming-of-age series about young adulthood (I love me some Dawson’s Creek) and welcome to a new era of millennial-driven shows that are inclusive and tackle issues that don’t play out like “lesson of the week” but rather give us a fresh — and much-needed — perspective of the modern world we live in today (Bi-sexuality! Race relations! Women in the workplace!). With Freeform’s Good Trouble, a spin-off of The Fosters, we see all of this and it’s done in a way that isn’t pandering or forced. Instead, it’s appropriate with heartfelt charm and feels like it didn’t come from an older, uninformed TV exec that said: “this is how kids talk, right?”

Kim Kardashian West isn’t usually one to wear the same outfit twice. But the 36-year-old reality star was back in her Givenchy fall 2010 couture dress on Monday, when filming pickup scenes in Los Angeles for the upcoming Ocean’s Eight film.
Once again donning the sheer white dress with a matching cropped white fur coat, Kardashian West was snapped leaving her trailer in Downtown Los Angeles — her pin-straight long dark hair falling by her waist.
People previously confirmed the reality star and her sister Kendall Jenner would be making cameos in Ocean’s Eight, the all-female reboot to Steven Soderbergh...

Representatives for Amber Heard have called the police after her estranged husband Johnny Depp's aides reportedly violated a court order and raided the former couple's home on Monday (13Jun16).
The actress filed to end the couple's 15-month marriage in May (16), and then obtained a temporary domestic violence restraining order against Depp, accusing him of abusing her throughout their marriage.
Under the terms of the order, the Pirates of the Caribbean star has to stay at least 100 yards away from the Downtown Los Angeles home he shared with Heard, local law enforcement sources tell TMZ.com.
However, reports suggest that members of Depp's camp entered the home on Monday (13Jun16) and began taking items from the property, removing decor from walls and gathering furniture which they insisted belonged to the actor.
Although Depp himself was not present, Heard's team reportedly called in Los Angeles Police Department officials on the grounds of a possible violation of the restraining order.
While the terms of the ruling include a "move-out order", which allows Depp to recover his clothes and any personal items needed until a hearing set for Friday (17Jun16), Heard's legal team believes Depp's people are pushing the boundaries of the order.
Meanwhile, sources close to the actor tell TMZ his team is acquiring his "personal items" and insist their actions are within the scope of what the order allows.
It is unclear whether Heard was at home when the alleged raid took place, but Depp is currently lying low in the Bahamas as their divorce battle continues.
Ironically, his retreat in the Bahamas, which he purchased in 2004, is where he and Heard tied the knot in February, 2015.
The former couple's case will be back in court on Friday, when a judge is expected to determine whether to extend the temporary restraining order against the actor. (Td/Wnwczm/Kl)...

On June 17, 1994, following a televised reading of a supposed suicide note by Kim Kardashian's dad and a slow-speed car chase up the 405 freeway that interrupted the NBA Finals, O.J. Simpson surrendered to police outside a Brentwood home. He was charged with the murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman.

In this age of Kurt Hummel, Emily Fields and the dozens of other gay characters prominently featured on some of the most popular teen-skewing shows, it might strike twenty-somethings as crazy to hear there was a time when gay men and women were tougher to find on TV than a speck of glitter in a haystack.
Reality TV was one of the first mediums to actively capture the gay experience and share it with the world, particularly The Real World. From Pedro Zamora of The Real World: San Francisco to Genesis Moss of The Real World: Boston, MTV was breaking Lgbtq ground and educating America by putting a face to this long-overlooked portion of society long before their network counterparts.
Danny Roberts became one of the most beloved members of said community when he starred on The Real World: New Orleans in 2000. The adorable, then-22-year-old basically became the insta-crush of every gay (and...

The Real World is donning flannel and boots for its upcoming Portland season, but to gear up for that premiere on March 27, I thought we'd take a look back at the show's cast members who were damn good at wearing not-so-many clothes. Here they are, the 11 hottest male cast members in Real World history. (You'll be happy to know the gays took over the list; I wasn't even forcing it!)
11. Eric Nies (New York)

Eric Nies introduced us to Real World hotness on the first season of the show, and he'd continue his hot streak with The Grind, where Queen Latifah once asked him how much he was paid to show off his nipples. The answer? Never enough, Dana.
10. Davis Mallory (Denver)
(Source)
Denver! That was a caustic cast. Oh, Brooke! You have almost certainly killed someone before. Tyrie! You're diagnosable. And Davis! You are gay and good-looking and...

MTV is doing a blessed thing. With "RetroMTV," the network will be replaying three of the finest seasons of The Real World starting this Friday and continuing throughout Sunday, including the first New York season, the San Francisco season with Pedro Zamora, and the first Las Vegas season with Trishelle Cannatella. I hope that sentence filled you with the adrenaline of a thousand jars of stolen peanut butter, because I'm tweaking over here.
It's all in anticipation for The Real World: Portland, which begins March 27.
This happy occasion proves the opportunity for another: Let's create a Real World supergroup, an ideal cast composed of seven of the best housemates in the show's history. I'm basing my picks on the cast archetypes that are most important to me, but if you come up with your own casts in the comments, feel free to change the categories to your liking.

Darryl Stephens finds himself in bed with Sean Wing in A Family Thing.
Darryl Stephens isn't resting on his laurels as we collectively wait to see if his series Dtla returns to Logo. Instead, he dove headfirst into a juicy part on the Los Angeles stage in the new play A Family Thing.
Presented by the Echo Theater Company, the play, by out playwright Gary Lennon (who also has extensive credits in film and TV) looks at a family of three estranged brothers – one a felon, one an addict and the other a writer (who happens to be gay) and what happens when they come back together. With much humor to balance out some of the play’s heavier moments, the focus is on the idea that family is the thing that brings us together as well as what tears us apart. Hopefully the production will also convince people that...
