Han Solo says that he wasn't sure that the Jedi were real, but that it was all true, or something similar. However, he was alive during the events of episodes 1-3, so he should have been aware of them, and of what they were capable of. So for him to say that he didn't believe in them, we would have to accept that he had his head in the sand for nearly 20 years. However, in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, Solo specifically says "Kid, I've flown from one side of this galaxy to the other, and I've seen a lot of strange stuff, but I've never seen *anything* to make me believe that there's one all-powerful Force controlling everything. 'Cause no mystical energy field controls *my* destiny. It's all a lot of simple tricks and nonsense", making it clear that, while Solo may have been alive during the events of Episodes I through III, at least as late as the beginning of Episode IV, he didn't believe in the Force or the Jedi. Of course, his opinion has changed by the end of Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi. See more »
Lor San Tekka:
This will begin to make things right. I've traveled too far and seen too much to ignore the despair in the galaxy. Without the Jedi, there can be no balance in the Force.
Well, because of you, now we have a chance. The General's been after this for a long time.
Lor San Tekka:
Oh, the General? To me, she is royalty.
Well, she certainly is that.

No one has a clue and everyone is bringing in a woman to retread what a man has done. Yes, it is institutional misandry and misogyny.
Instead of film makers and talented folks we have accountants, bean counters of corporate hackery like JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy. So they order a gender switch and make a billion.
Whose fault is it that this gender switch made money and Star Wars is no longer?
