The pilot episode aired as a special on August 28, 2000. All of the adult content was included; the only cuts were Doug Mulray's introductions, which contained jokes about fat children. As a joke, the opening credits of Cheers (1982) were shown 35 minutes in. Mulray was asked to host, but refused; Bert Newton hosted instead.
The 90-minute pilot was pulled off the air after 35 minutes. Network owner Kerry Packer was offended by the show's adult content, and telephoned producers to say "Get that shit off the air". Doug Mulray had introduced the commercial break, and the program failed to return. GTV-9 Melbourne broadcast a black screen reporting technical problems. TCN-9 Sydney and most other stations in the network showed two re-runs of Cheers (1982) to fill the time slot. Mulray was sacked from his short-lived post as presenter and a radio disc jockey.
The tv special aired again in 2008 after Kerry Packer's death. It was almost aired to it's entirety of 60 minutes. But parts of fat shaming were removed.
