- Castaways exhaust their funds on tasty rewards while one generous castaway makes two bids for his tribemates during the hearty food auction.
- Previously on 'Survivor': After being bullied by her original alliance, Lisa took off and left Pete and Abi powerless. Meanwhile, Lisa and Skupin were looking for a new alliance. Lisa preferred Penner, but when he passed, Malcolm and Denise jumped at the chance to join Skupin and Lisa. Carter won immunity. At Tribal Council, Abi was pushed to tears by everyone opening her eyes to how much she's not liked. Worse yet, she saw her only ally, Pete, get sent home.
Back at camp: Abi is still crushed in the morning, complaining to Skupin about how mean everyone was to her at Tribal. Denise tells us Abi is going next, "unless she miraculously somehow wins immunity." In that case, she says, they'd vote out Penner.
Malcolm and Abi head over to get tree mail. She sees envelopes in the trunk and is brought to tears again. Malcolm hugs her as she cries and says her experience at Tribal was "like the worst day of my life." Malcolm tells us his heart goes out to her a little bit.
The tree mail signals a food auction. Abi tells us she's going to use her money to get ahead in the game somehow.
'Survivor' Auction: Each player has $500 and cannot share food or money. Jeff first unveils pancakes, bacon and orange juice. Denise and Malcolm bid a little, but Denise fires off a $500 bid, spending all her money for the plate.
Skupin quickly bids $500 on the next item: A plate of cheese and crackers with a small carafe of wine, even though he says he's "not a drinker."
Iced coffee and donuts go to Malcolm for $200.
The next item remains covered. Penner bids $100 with no contest. It's fried chicken and fries.
The next item again remains covered. Carter and Malcolm bid each other up to $200, with Carter winning. It's a baked potato with some fixings. But before he digs in, Malcolm is given a choice to keep it or trade it for a sack of rice and beans that the whole tribe can have. Carter takes the rice and beans, much to his tribe's delight.
The next item is covered. Carter and Lisa bid each other up and Lisa takes it to $320, knowing Carter doesn't have more than that. It's a gigantic sub sandwich.
The next item is "an advantage in this game," Jeff announces. Abi spends her whole $500 on it immediately. She tells Jeff, "There's no compassion towards me here. I have to have compassion towards myself."
The next item is covered and Carter wins it. It's a plate of veal shanks with a twist. It's for the whole tribe and they have 60 seconds to eat as much of it as they can.
Back at camp: Everyone is loving the experience, but Penner and Abi start chatting. Abi is demanding an apology for "destroying" her at Tribal Council. The joy is gone.
Lisa tells us "it is really hard not to laugh at some of the things she says." Abi says that at some point she'll look back and learn something from all of this. But Penner later tells us that the more bitter and obnoxious Abi is, the easier it is for the tribe to keep him around.
Abi tells us she thinks that people are going to start thinking about warming up to her because of the "advantage" she bought in the auction. Abi goes off to an isolated spot to read the note, which says she can move to the final round of the next immunity challenge. She says she's going to have to figure out how to use this note to her advantage.
The next morning, Abi wakes up in a sneaky mood. She's going to invent a fourth hidden immunity idol. She goes off "looking" for the idol.
Later, Abi talks to Malcolm and tells him there's a fourth idol. It isn't clear if he believes her.
Immunity challenge: Each player will be hooked to a rope that goes through an obstacle course. Jeff announces two twists. First, he tells the players that before each round, he will ask a trivia question. The players who answer incorrectly will have 5 percent of their body weight added to their load as they try to get through the obstacle course.
He also announces Abi's note, and she tries to keep up her ruse about another hidden idol. She claims there are "two notes" and she's reading one of them, which reveals the fact that she gets to go to the final round of this challenge. She tears up the note dramatically, saying she doesn't want anyone to see what the "other" part of the note says.
After the first round, Lisa is out. Denise, who missed the first question and was carrying 5 percent of her body weight, finished first, followed by Carter,
Going into the second round, Denise misses another question and is carrying 10 percent of her body weight. Skupin and Carter missed a question and are carrying 5 percent of their body weight. Penner and Malcolm are "clean." Penner and Carter move on to face Abi in the final round.
Carter answers another question wrong and is now carrying 10 percent of his body weight. Penner and Abi are free of extra weight. Abi jumps out to a big lead and remarkably holds it the entire way through, much to the dismay of everyone looking on.
Back at camp: Malcolm is looking forward to voting Penner out. Lisa tells everyone she likes the game but she isn't cut out for it. She tells us she has a "real heart connection" with Penner and Carter.
Lisa goes and tells Penner she doesn't want to lie to him and reveals to him that he's the one going out. He's upset and tells her as much. He asks her what he's going to do. She tells him to go do his magic.
Penner tells us "Lisa got played," but also realizes that he made a mistake in not choosing a side.
Back at camp, Penner tells Carter and Abi that they're going to vote for Denise. He goes and talks to Skupin and says they're going to vote Denise. Penner tells Skupin that he's the swing vote and he tells Skupin the truth that Lisa is conflicted but not wanting to break her word with her new alliance.
Tribal Council: Asked about the vibe back at camp, Penner says it got a little crazy in ways that no one had anticipated. He appeals publicly to Lisa and Skupin and asks them not to vote him out. Malcolm is shaking his head and says he "absolutely" trusts Lisa. Penner goes on to tell Lisa that she can't win with Malcolm and Denise.
Jeff asks Lisa if she can compare this dilemma with anything she's experienced before in her life. She says yes, "but it's too personal to talk about." She tears up thinking about it. Skupin admits that there is some truth in what Penner says.
The vote: Abi takes glee in writing down Denise's name down, and says, "I hope you go home tonight look who's judging now." Penner announces loudly that he's writing down "Denise," and everyone back around the fire including Denise breaks into laughter.
Jeff reads the votes: Denise, Denise, Penner, Penner, Denise, Penner, and the 12th person voted out is Penner.
Penner hugs Carter. Abi stands up and asks if she can have a hug, too, and Penner says he isn't hugging anyone else.
Penner's last words: "My strategy, once again, has failed. I'm very disappointed in myself for not doing better. But I guess that's the way 'Survivor' crumbles. I've spent six years of my life with 'Survivor.' I'm one of the lucky few that's played three times and it's been fun, and extremely painful."
