The first performance of the theatre production "7: 3" took place on February 6, 1999, in Umeå, Sweden. "7: 3" was presented 23 times on various locations in Sweden, produced by Riksteatern.
During spring 1998 theatre director Birgitta Palme formed a drama group of 4 inmates at the Tidaholm Prison. The inmates was looking for a play and therefore decided to contact the playwright Lars Norén, to see if he was interested to work with them. Norén accepted. The inmates, Tony Olsson, Mats Nilsson and Carl Thunberg, created the play along with Lars Norén.
The term 7:3 derives from the section of prisoners who are likely to escape from prison.
Scheduled to be shown on TV (SVT) in 2005, but two of the participating prisoners, Carl Thunberg and Mats Nilsson, insisted that it would not be presented.
