Sister Act
Here's Ethel and Dorothea Ponce, performing a couple of songs for the MGM camera. Although Metro was the slowest of the major studios to go into talkies, they certainly had a fair number of experimental shorts, and by 1929, William Haines had all of his features with soundtracks.
The two sing a couple of lively songs, and even though the sound track buzzs a lot, they are an attractive pair of singers, popular on the radio and records. Ethel got married in 1935, and stopped recording; Dorothea continued as a solo artist until she got married in 1937. In the 1950s, Ethel came back as a composer of jingles and a performer with the. Cincinnati Symphony and advertising jingles. She would die in 1989, 72 years old; Dorothea would survive her until 2000, just shy of 91.
