But the biggest storyline revolves around Hermann, who I have always thought to be the heart, soul and (often) conscience of the show and the Firehouse. His wife Cindy has what she thinks is COVID, but it isn't - she has lung cancer instead, as she reveals late in the episode. It's a gut-punch, for sure, and both David Eigenberg and Robin Coffin shine in this scene. I could feel their anguish throughout the scene.
Coffin, especially, gets to have her day out front of the cameras, after so many episodes as Hermann's wife kind of in the background.
There is surely heartache to come for this couple and their family. Just hope it isn't too traumatic.
