War reporter Jan Krüger booked the cruise to Puerto Rico to spend time with his beloved, another professional globetrotter, but flees obliged to flee from her proposal due to his medical secret. Captain Paulsen's personal friend, workaholic Paul Bronski, grudgingly joins aboard his wife Maria, who stayed for several cruises and wants him to turn over the family firm to their adult son. Ship doctor Wolf Sander hides his disappointment that reputed heart surgeon Martin Rainders switched to plastic surgery but joins him visiting the local orphanage infirmary he generously sends funds to, only to find its local chief embezzled most of the donations. The new cruise director makes the worst possible first impression on the captain, yet comes trough for guests.
