What a comeback
janstue25 February 2023
First half of the season was okay but at times it felt super lengthy; I actually wanted to skip ahead sometimes. Probably the main reason for that was one most unlikable character: Big John. I think they should've kept him out of the show. The dead and mysterious legend suits him better than the egotistical dad with a drunk uncle vibe. That being said, the second half of the season - especially the last few episodes - were nothing short of a blast. The enthusiastic explorer feeling, JJ's wildness, interesting plot developments - it all came back. This is the kind of ending that makes me want to watch season 4 right ahead. The development of new relationships was appealing, and I enjoy that some of the things I hope would not happen did not happen. Enjoy your night!

Probably the best episode yet
dawokrashaad24 February 2023
As someone who generally thought Outer Banks was just okay, I have to say that the Season 3 finale, "Secret of the Gnomon," was an absolute thrill ride. The episode took us on a crazy, unexpected journey that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

The Pogues' search for El Dorado led them deep into the jungle, where John B and Sarah faced their biggest challenge yet. The stakes were higher than ever, and the tension was palpable. I found myself rooting for the characters and holding my breath as they fought to survive.

What I loved most about this finale was the way it brought everything together. There were so many plot threads and character arcs that had been building up throughout the season, and they all came to a head in a satisfying way. The writing was clever, the acting was solid, and the action was intense.

I recognize that this finale might not be for everyone, but as someone who generally thought the show was just alright, I have to say that I really enjoyed it. It left me wanting more, and I can't wait to see where the story goes next. Overall, I would give "Secret of the Gnomon" a 10/10 rating for its crazy, unexpected ride and for delivering a satisfying conclusion to the season.

Concluded to perfection

Warning: Spoilers
I felt this ending gave me goosebumps with the mention of Blackbeard and it really coincides with all the characters leading them all to their inevitable fate of death, love or triumph....ecstatic for the next season need to see more! Throughout the season it felt stretched out not necessarily giving an indication of where it's going and gave a more predictable storyline, I felt they could've done more with the statue artifact as it seemed almost too simple to find access to the cave toward the end. Overall the show exceeded expectations in the last 3 episodes thoroughly summarizing the show with great efficacy and precision.

Best outer banks episode
andreaskount3 January 2024
Season 3 final episode is undoubtedly the best outer banks episode yet, reaching also my top tier episodes of all time. The viewer could feel the passion caused by the actors and the thereby the emotions in the characters relations. Leaving the suspension until the last minute it surely deserved every single minute of watching. John Bi, his father and the following characters were attached to their goal, something that makes the viewer to wonder about his everyday goals in his life. In my opinion the ending of the season can sure be considered as one the best season endings this century. Have a great watch!

Wait... so did they excavate the gold or anything???

Warning: Spoilers
This isn't made clear at all?!!!!!! The episode ends with them carrying a couple nuggets out of the mine, burying their fathers, and then shoots to 18 months later in the Outerbanks with some ceremony about the teens being great adventurers who solved El Dorado. That's it...

Overall, the final episode was quite predictable but still unfortunate about Ward and Big John. We also don't really know what happened with Rafe and the fortune of el dorado but I guess we've been told that the next season will be about the teens searching for Blackbeard's treasure. That's great and all, but apparently the el dorado fortune isn't enough for them...

Average ending to an Average season
orlandoeveritt26 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I felt that this season was pretty similar to the previous, a pretty unrealistic story about some teens chasing gold. I feel like the main attraction, and probably the only attraction, was the setting. I like the idea of it being set in the Caribbean and having the rich vs the poor and the conflicts that come along with it. The season sort of just bumbled along like any other teen Netflix story and was very clearly building up to the fight for the gold in the finale.

The finale itself I think was a bit rushed, they could've reached the Orinoco Delta maybe an episode before and spent a little longer there - I was pretty surprised they were going to fit it all into one episode. I did like the hunting part and the problem solving part to find the gold, however the scene after they emerged from the cave (somewhat comically) was pretty poor. It was so predictable. I was just waiting for each person to come out of the jungle just at the right time to point a gun and someone and wait for someone else to make a heroic stand which finally ended in Ward's death. I quite liked Big John's character throughout this season and his death was like any other we've ever seen. Shot in the stomach he would hobble along and tragically die on the way home, very boring and very predictable. Not to mention the "18 months later" with the expected mysterious old man with a new treasure map once everything had returned to normal just so they could extract another season from it, very corporate.

All in all it was an ok season - I liked some parts, others made me think what on earth am I watching, the ending was, as I said, bang average. 6/10.

Never have I begged for a show to end so badly
brysonowns7 March 2023
I cannot believe I put myself through the torture of the most cringe, cliche tv show to ever grace the small screen.

It's like watching a very slow car wreck that you can't look away from. The "heroes" are so boring, annoying and forgetful that every 8 or so times that a gun got pointed at them each episode I caught myself really hoping someone would get shot. Each interaction is so wildly unrealistic and unbelievable that you're constantly being taken out of the show. I cannot imagine any sane person could watch this with a straight face without being in a constant state of discomfort.

Please save yourself 10+ hours and watch grass grow.
