Can't remember when - if ever - Truck and Squad have had any sort of tension. Maybe never, as Mouch made a quip that every year they have it out with each other, but we got it in this episode. Normally they band together and the tension and fighting is all with outsiders.
No warm and fuzzy all-in feelings to start off the ep, that's for sure. And at the root of the problems: Severide and Stella. A new dimension to their work and personal relationship, and an interesting angle for the show to explore. In the end, the calm and wise figure of Chief Boden tells everyone to - essentially - get over it. Love Eamonn Walker.
Cindy Hermann's cancer operation takes place midway through this episode, and yet again, David Eigenberg is a tower of acting strength. Great to see Hermann's old friend Chief Boden turn up at the hospital for some moral support. THAT is the Firehouse 51 camraderie we know and love.
