I am surprised by how overboard negative a lot of your reviews are fellow IMDb.com people.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that Match Game is a good show, it is not a good show.

But it is not a one out of ten or the worst game show ever or "garbage" or whatever else you are calling it. It is a growing concern to me that people always jump to one out of ten if they dislike something and calling it the worst movie ever, or calling something ten out of ten and he best movie ever if they like it at all. There are all those other numbers in the middle!

I give Match Game a four and I think it is slightly less than the average shows it is up against.

I say it is not very good for many of the same reasons you do. The contestants seem both bored and boring. The host is not very funny or personable but at the same time I sometimes find it refreshing that he is different from the other TV show hosts out there. The panelists and in particular Shawn Cullen and Debra D. are really awful and not very creative or funny at coming up with good fill in the blank answers.

Let's remember there are more ratings than just one or ten okay? It makes things more fun and much more fair.

Match Game is a Canadian game show which is based on an older game show of the same name from the U.S. and I think it has existed a few times there after being revived in different years. The format is popular and was on for years.

This new (Canadian) version has some problems that take away from the enjoyment of the show, at least in my opinion but that's all I can give you :-)

The jury... I don't recognize most of them and don't know how they cast for this show but almost down to the last person they're just not funny. They rely almost 100% of the time on obvious "dirty" answers thinking that making sexual or scatological references will be automatically funny on their own. This is my main problem with the show. A number of them also seem to be desperate to have their jokes heard and to be seen on TV so they often resort to yelling and talking over each other/the host/contestants which is just annoying and unnecessary. A couple of them even sing all the time which just comes off as desperate.

The host... he's not as bad as the jury but he seems very stiff and for an improvised comedy show he doesn't seem to think on his feet very wittily/quickly. But I bet that stuff could be learnt with time, and let's face it, given how little I think of the jury I bet they are not giving him much to work with :-)

The contestants... they are incredibly boring, or maybe it's just that they are bored themselves and we can see that coming through in their performances.

The prizes... super cheap and it's very difficult to see them win the top prize.

The format is a winner but they just aren't doing anything with it. Just because a format works doesn't mean you can just grab any jury, host and contestants and a camera and offer a $100 cash prize and assume your show will be guaranteed successful.

This show is a major disappointment to me because the original show was very funny and worked on every level, so it's an opportunity really missed by the Comedy Network.

I think you are all being a little hard on this show don't you think? This show leaves a lot to be wanting for and I would not argue that it is one of the best shows out there but it is if anything only a little bit less than the average game show.

I give it a 4/10 rating because it is really not that bad. You all act like it is the worst game show ever made but come on that is a huge over reach on your part.

Why does it always go like that that there is a show and people don't like it and they go straight to calling it the worst show ever. There is a huge section in the middle you are forgetting about. That is why we can vote 1 to 10 and not just 1 or 10, yes or no, good or bad.

I am not a fan but I do not hate this show it is just something that is on this channel some times so I just turn the channel if it is not very good and you can do the same. Let's put the hate on hold?

This game show is terrible! The only good thing about it is that the production values look OK, almost like they actually spent some money on making it unlike most shows on Canadian TV, especially game shows. But this show is really annoyingly awful. First off the host is always stumbling over words and just seems bored or boring, like he doesn't want to be there, he is not good at talking to the contestants or getting them to answer questions as if they are actually caring about being there at all. The guests on the show are awful. It seems like Sean Cullen and Deb from Videos On Trial are the two that are there every week and they are the most annoying people on earth. She won't shut up and is always running into other people's frames it's as if she is constantly shrieking "look at me look at me look at me look at me!!!" and Sean Cullen also talks constantly but instead of desperately pushing himself for the camera his just sings nonsense and makes up really weird things and clearly thinks this makes him hilarious. Sometimes he comes up with something funny but almost all of the time he's just shooting useless random **** out of his mouth. The other guests are also always terrible, like really terrible. The only thing they have to do is come up with an answer to a question so if they can't come up with one funny answer they can just put a real answer which I'm sure the contestants would like so they can actually get a match sometimes. But no they always get some actor from some other crappy Canadian show or some comedian and they always do the exact same thing, come up with the first sex act or body part they can think of and give that answer and expect everyone to laugh like they are a comedy genius. This show is just desperate and stupid and sad, there are almost zero laughs to be had and none of these people are interesting, even the contestants come off as bored and the contestants are the worst part of all of this show. Maybe it's because the host doesn't know what he's doing but they never say anything and when they do talk they're just mumbling stupid things and wanting to just get the show over with so they can win their prize which is also **** usually like fifty bucks or something. What a pathetic show! I wish I could stop paying taxes so they couldn't afford to make this ****.

This show is not worth watching in fact it is only worth flushing down the toilet. None of the comedians and actors on the show is ever funny. One girl always draws pictures, usually of a penis or something. The fat girl just shrieks and yells and screams. Every time they spin the wheel I grit my teeth because the fat guy always starts singing about how the wheel is spinning which I guess is supposed to be funny. They had John Hodgman the other day and even he was not funny but you can't blame him. The host seems to be going through the motions counting the seconds until he gets to cash his check. I swear at least half the time all their answers are penis or poo or something else related to that. Our tax dollars are paying for this garbage? Get some funny people who can keep the host and guests awake or cancel this piece of crap by flushing it and replace it with Match Game 73 which is currently airing on the game show network and is still much funnier than this show. I'm not kidding about that to be funny I seriously mean run Match Game 73 instead. Or why not rerun Kids in the Hall? That show was hilarious. What the hell is wrong with this channel that you can only make crap like that? Match Game sucks huge clackers.

Match Game sucks. I watch the original game show (it is currently airing on cable and is called Match Game 73) and it is very dated but it's still an amusing show. The premise for a game show is very good where you have professional comedians as a panel trying to "help" the contestants by giving answers to the same questions and if the answers match they get points. The original show has the comedians giving funny answers but never dirty, and usually they give a real answer and just say funny things about it. This new show just has comedians who give the worst answers trying to be funny and failing. So why should the contestants even bother playing when the comedians just keep giving stupid answers which are also usually filthy? Gave his dog a what? A penis. She keeps a what in her cupboard? A penis. I could give better answers than that and also funnier answers than that and I am an accountant, probably the least funny kind of person in the world. Please stop making horrible shows like this. Whoever at your network thinks that anything sexual is automatically funny needs to be fired. Have you guys ever made one single good show? Every person on the panel is not funny and the host is also not funny. Seriously is this the best we can do?

This is easily, and by far, the worst version of the Match Game television game show that has ever been broadcast. The first version I have never seen but I'm sure it can't be worse. The most well known version is also the best, it was technically called Match Game 72 and had comics, actors, other celebrities, a great host, and the answers were always very entertaining and funny when they were not giving serious answers to try to help the contestant win. There was a show called Match Game PM which aired in the 1980's that was not as good as Match Game 72 but was still good. Then in the 1990's they did a new version of the show that was very much the same and still had some of the same guests, like Charles Nelson Reilly. The host was not as good as the prime hosting days of Match Game 72. I have always liked the show so I was excited when I saw Match Game was coming to Canada. I am kicking myself now for actually having some positive thoughts and believing the Comedy Channel could actually do something right for a change. The host is dull and any time he says something in the moment it is not funny and just painful to watch. Once in a while he gets in a good line but usually it's just painful which makes me think they don't even bother to edit this show at all. The guests are terrible and like the other reviewer here already said all they seem to do is go for the easy jokes any ten year old would think of. If I wanted to hear a bunch of pathetic penis jokes I would go down to the school yard. Aren't these people professional and if so can't they come up with something better than this? Or maybe is the channel telling them to give these answers? Maybe they even give them answers ahead of time? It doesn't really matter. The contestants are even more boring than on the other versions of the Match Game show or maybe it's just that they are bored because of the lame duck host and horrible guests giving such immature answers. Avoid this show at all cost if you don't want to lose brain cells.

I don't know what everyone is talking about. Yes I find the singing during star wheel annoying but I find the panel guests to be fun, quirky, and quite entertaining! My favorite guests are Emma - I love her feuds with the buzzer judges, Debra - she knows the game, Kevin and Scott from The Kids In The Hall, Norm McDonald - he's funny, and Tom Green. I am not a fan of Leah Miller as I find her to try to hard. The host, Darren Rose, does a good job on it as well. I watch it almost every day. I don't think bashing people based on their looks or appearances is a relevant review and would hope that anyone reading those parts would disregard that review completely.

Okay. I understand that this show is in the beginnings and needs to sort of develop a pace and depth to it. But there's a lot of individual things I like about it.

Darrin the host is actually pretty funny. I think he comes off trying to be too chummy with people, too casual that it makes the dialogue a little moot sometimes. He has some commentary that's kind of goofy and funny which is enjoyable. It might just be his lack of experience, he comes off as some guy you would've gone to highschool with running a comedy show in the cafeteria.

The panel of people has it's ups and downs. I've been a Sean Cullen fan for awhile so I might be biased to his random outbursts. He's a pretty gifted comedian and performer, I think he probably pitched the producers a song for "star wheel" which they rejected... to which he promptly responded by singing "staaaaaar wheeeeel" with different variations every show. At first I hated this... but it became funny after awhile. I suppose people drifting in and out of the show would find this irritating. Deborah's funny, annoying at times with the outbursts... but I mean they have to liven up the panel sometimes somehow. The other people on the panel waver in interest to me. Sometimes they pick douchey people.

Some guy on the celebrity panel asking a contestant "do you need the thousand dollars? I can give it to you" after messing up the last match up... less people like that. way less.

Overall, I'd say the show just needs more time...

And god... enough with the senseless dancing at the end of the show... that music is maddening enough already without Canadian comedians hurling about.

and that show was on in 1973. That is everything you need to know about this show. Match Game is a terrible revamp of what was a popular game show back in the 70's where comedians would sit on a panel and the host would make a statement leaving one word blank (i.e. he was a bad dentist because he would keep his toothbrush in the 'blank') and they would make up an answer, either a real answer or a gag answer, and however many matched the answer the contestant gave that's how many points they would get. The problem is this new version doesn't have any good comedians on it. Just some U.S. kind of sort of recognizable people (like one of the correspondents from Daily Show with John Stewart) but nobody really funny. The people on the show every week are washed up horrible comics like Debora Digivani and Sean Cullen from Much Music and CBC like 10 years ago still doing the same gags. Also like the other reviewer said all the comedians go for the exact same dirty jokes every single question with most of them using words like penis or ass over and over again. When it's never funny they just say it louder and louder or even just start singing. These people are so desperate to be entertaining and they are not. The people on this show are not funny at all and they know it. The host even looks embarrassed to be there. The prizes aren't even good. This show is really horrible it must cost them like ten dollars to make it otherwise why is this on TV?

The guests are terrible. Shawn Cullen and the big girl are terrible. The host is boring and seems bored himself. I don't know what else to say about this show. They scream and yell to get attention and jump out of their seats and Shawn Cullen won't stop making up songs and singing them extra loud to make sure everyone hears his annoying bullshit. They spin the wheel and he sings about the wheel spinning for the rest of the show. None of the funny answers are ever actually funny it is usually just different words for penis or blow jobs. This show is so stupid and useless. The contestants look like they regret being on the show unless they win some money at the end. Everyone on this show comes off looking stupid. They have a guest on as a special guest who is from a big show but they just end up looking stupid like they want to fire their agent for putting them on this garbage show. I hope they are at least getting a butt load of money for doing it because this show is garbage. I hate Match Game!

The show does have problems but I don't think it is as bad as your "the sky is falling" interpretation of this show basically making it sound like it is the worst show ever made in the entire history of human civilization!

First off I don't think the host is bad at all. You can't blame the host for having bad contestants and for the six guests not having funny answers a lot of the times, all he can do is work with what they give him and if they don't give him much he obviously doesn't have anything funny to work with.

The contestants do always seem to be very uninteresting and also seem like they are bored or don't really want to be there I will give you that one a hundred percent.

Also like I already said yes the six guests do go to below the waist and toilet answers a lot of the time and have some really bad jokes but we have to give them some lee way there because unless you have been there we don't know how much time they get to answer, if it is live like it is on the show it seems like they only have 5-15 seconds to come up with and also write down a answer so it must be harder to do then we might think just watching.

The prizes are not great but what do you expect this is Canada and any game show here the prize will always be less than it is on a U.S. show, how does that take away from how entertaining the show is for us to watch anyway?

I give it 4. I would like to see better contestants brought in and also new guests, I don't know why they all seem to change except one male/female couple who are in always. Keep the host and give him a chance though I like how his style is more sedate and real life than other hosts.

This show is a perfect example of how far TV has fallen. Match Game was a winning TV game show formula that featured comedians who were funny in their day. Even watching reruns today you can find the show funny and it is entertaining and also the game show makes sense. But what they have turned it into is shrieking "comedians" who are doing everything they can to make sure they are the one getting on camera and the show has absolutely no intelligence or value at all. The other reviewer hit the nail on the head by saying all the answers are cheap and lowest common denominator. This show is an example of how our society is in decline, sorry if you think that's an exaggeration but I don't think so.

For fun the last time I watched this show (which will be the last time I watch it ever) I wrote down all the answers they gave before turning the channel (which made me feel good about myself). Here are those answers:

Prostitute, hooker, herpes, hooker with books, pearl necklace, prostitutes.

That's not unusual either, pretty much every round most of the answers are sexual or about body parts or bodily functions. The kind of scatological humour you would expect from a five year old or a clinical idiot. I'm not a prude, go ahead and give us the occasional dirty or lowbrow joke, but all the time? Really? Why are you people on TV if this is all you have to offer? Are you all sharing a brain? If so shouldn't at least one of you have the brain at any given time?

Please do yourselves and us viewers and society at large a favour and get off the air.

This show is insipid, straight up stupid and has no moral value either. It's not even entertaining or informative/educational. Not only do you shut off your brain to watch it I am 100% convinced that watching it has made me a less intelligent person. I give it 2 out of 10 because I don't mind the host, I like that he's not so over the top as most game show hosts out there. This show isn't funny and I just feel sick watching these people give their answers, knowing exactly what they will say because it's the same joke answers I would have given in high school.

"Bum, poop, fart, sex, boobs, hooker, prostitute, b-j's, gang bang, orgy, orgasm, stripper, underpants....." if that is your idea of quality TV programming, this is the show for you. If you have any self respect at all run don't walk to any other channel.

Shame on the Comedy Network. Your other programming is not much better if it's any better at all.

I have seen this show twice now (including right now and I admit I probably will not finish since I'm only 6 minutes in and already in a cold sweat wanting to reach out for the remote). This is one of the worst game shows or shows in general that I have ever seen in my entire T.V. watching life.

The host is so boring and dull and seems like he (just like the viewer and the audience) doesn't really want to even be there. I certainly can't blame him for that.

The contestants aren't just bored but boring and the puzzles they do are really stupid and deliberately set up so that people will hopefully give bathroom potty joke answers.

The panel is made up of some of the least funny people I have ever seen on T.V. and their answers are so unfunny and just plain idiotic that I can't believe what I'm watching.

As a Canadian I am ashamed of this putrid program foisted upon the human race. First I grew up watching the match game from the 70's and 80's and see the reruns still and they are funny and there was a joy and pleasure to watching the celebrities trying to help the contestants win in particular Richard Dawson. Then I watched this program and it was just a car wreck the relentless mugging, the horrid comedy and the look at me look at me how funny I think I am mentality of the so called celebrities makes watching this show unbearable. You would think in a country that produced Leslie Neilson, Micheal J. Fox, Jim Carrey amongst others could find 6 funny and intelligent people to be contestants but no the producers found the most idiotic people and then foist 22 minutes of fertilizer on the human race.

Have you ever been in a social situation where someone tells a joke that bombs, and the only person laughing is the person who told the joke? That is Match Game. Not so much as a grin is had from the entire show. I have given it a chance, several episodes worth, and there is a pattern. They try to make something funny that really isn't; rinse and repeat. I cannot think of a word that could describe just how awful this show is. C-Span is hilarious in contrast to this show, and they aren't even trying to be amusing. The guests that are brought in on the panel are unknowns, and persons that may have at one time been a part of a comedy troupe. Standing on their own really shows why these people are on a fifth rate game show. I find it amazing that TV Execs cut shows that are fantastic (we all could name a few), yet total stinkers like Match Game remain on the air.

"Comedy" (in brackets for a reason) Network's having 'brought back' this series was a terrible idea. I grew up watching the original "Match Game" and "Match Game PM" re-runs on Game Show Network. They were hilarious and used fairly famous people that the general population had actually heard of. I'm only in my 20s and even I can't believe what they try to pass off as 'comedy' nowadays. If you compare the old series with the new one you'll see just how much society has gone down the toilet in the last 30 or 40 years! This series is absolutely disgraceful, awful, and lewd. The good name of "Match Game" has permanently been cheapened by no name "stars" with very little intellect who just come out and say vile things rather than having even the slightest ability to use innuendo to make what they're saying funny. And the prizes they're giving away seem to be the same amount or even less than they gave away in the 1970s! Shows how low budget this series is. Best thing they could do is pull this trash from the air and never soil the good name of a classic game show ever again!

This show is really awful.

I don't like that I have to write ten lines minimum for this review..... OK so I guess I have to explain my reasons why I think it is awful.

The host seems like he is too good for this show. Not that he is actually too good but thinks he is too good. I don't see any effort here and it's not just that he does not come up with good or witty things to say to the guests or the contestants, it's that he doesn't even bother to try.

The guests are not funny at all and every single episode it's the same parade of bathroom and sex jokes. Yawn! It's like the height of humor to these so called professionals is to saw or draw a penis on their answer cards.

The show just isn't very good and I have no idea why I have watched it so many times, maybe because I find it so hard to believe that a show with such a simple idea that should work never fails to fail so badly.

I'm very disappointed in this show and the comedy just came up lame in it.

First off, the host seems like his is very stiff and inexperienced. He just doesn't seem like he is able to create and carry on a natural sounding conversation with the competitors and the judges. His lines seem forced and even at some times mean, but without being funny or like a joke.

I agree with the other review that the judges are incredibly unprofessional and are simply not giving answers that are funny. What's worst is when they go out of their way to make up an answer they think is funny but then it's not funny and on top of that the answer is so crazy that the guesser has no chance to match up their answers and get points.

To put it simply it's like the judges don't understand how the game is supposed to work at all and they are only concerned with trying to give a funny answer and act wacky on television for themselves rather than help the competitors try to win the game and prizes. Which is just stupid and frustrating because they don't even succeed in being funny.

This is a pointless show and a huge waste of a tried and true game show that has been around for a very long time. It hasn't changed at all and I'm just disappointed every time I make the mistake of tuning in to try it again.

This show is insulting.

The "celebrity guests" aren't celebrities or even people you recognize at all from anything.

The host is a stuffed suit with the personality of a statue and the joke delivery of....well also of a statue.

The jokes are not funny at all. If you are going to put people as celebrity guests on a game show who are not at all celebrities at least use people who are funny. None of these people were funny. All the jokes are garbage and always they are low brow and childish.

No matter what the word match is they always try to use words like penis and fart, give me a break.

This show is a total insult.

The panelists are really awful and between them can never come up with anything more clever than penis or toilet answers.

The host is awkward, unfunny and can't seem to deal with the contestants.

Nothing about this show works on any level. I hope I never see this show or any of the people on it on television again in my entire life.

How can they take such a proven tried and true formula for a classic game show and completely fail to make it any good at all?

Seriously one of the worst television shows ever made. Just a half hour of nobodies ....what are you people even doing?

LOL to the reviewer with the headline.... For Fresher Jokes Watch "Match Game 73".... that is my thought exactly the jokes from the old show are better and made me laugh unlike every episode of this new Canadian version with bad comics doing the same stupid jokes every episode. Really bad show why did they have to wreck a good show?
