- Scarlett tells Gunnar she has two passes to Deacon's concert in Austin, but Gunnar says he's making the trip because of family obligations. She convinces him to take her along saying they can work during the long drive. Cy (band leader) is jealous of the attention Deacon is getting with the press and the women, which prompts him to make a bad move and Deacon quits the band. Juliette files divorce papers, Sean files annulment papers. Rayna isn't happy with any guitarist playing in Deacon's place. The election results come in.—A. Farley

At a press conference for Juliette and Rayna's "Red Lips,White Lies" tour, the women field question saying they are ready and excited. A reporter asks if Juliette's going to "run off" on the 30,000 fans. She promises she won't. Another asks how Rayna will do without Deacon. She says she's going to give the best Rayna Jaymes show she can. Juliette quips it will be a first for many of her fans.
At the bus, Deacon says goodbye to Carmen, the reporter, with a kiss. He rebuffs her offer to meet him out on the road after the story is filed. She tells him to be kind to himself. The lead singer Cy is mad the reporter gave Deacon so much attention and asks if she needs anything else from him. She doesn't.
We watch the Rayna/Juliette stage built in San Diego and Rayna complains to Bucky about her new guitarist. He says he toured with Brad Paisley and Keith Urban. She says he doesn't get her. Her daughters call and wish her luck. Teddy asks if she's coming back for election night. She's unsure. He says since it would only be for appearances' sake maybe she shouldn't bother. She says that isn't true. He hangs up.
Meanwhile, back at the Bluebird. Gunnar is planning to go to Austin. And Scarlet points out that the Revel Kings are playing and Deacon got them tickets and backstage passes. Gunnar says he has famly stuff. She just wants to hitch a ride and basically forces her way in. She says they can make it a writing trip.
Juliette is signing CDs backstage and complaining that Sean won't sign divorce papers. Glenn suggests she reach out to him. She figures she's the last person he wants to hear from.
Rayna has a meeting with the guitarist about playing the changes and to sing with her, more like a unit working together. He says I don't know what the hell you want from me. He quits, on the spot. She asks Bucky to find her a good guitar player. He wonders if he will find anyone she deems good enough.
At Teddy's HQ, he and Lamar watch Coleman give interviews, sounding strong. Lamar and Tandy point out that Coleman is a known quantity which will help him and that Teddy's name isn't what it once was and when his forebears won, they cheated. Teddy dismisses this idea outright.
Post-coitus, Avery and Marilyn talk shop. They argue about her lawyer looking over Dominic's offer to Avery. She says Dominic is trying to screw him because he's young and inexperienced. Avery points out that that's what Marilyn is doing as well.
Gunnar and Scarlet hook up with Deacon at a hotel in Austin. Gunnar heads off to meet with his brother who he says lives outside of Austin.
Liam shows up in San Diego and finds Rayna in the nosebleeds, where she and Deacon used to meet before shows to remind themselves to play up to those fans. She wants him to play for her but he resists. He agrees to three shows.
Juliette does an interview after running the stairs before the show, part of her routine for the show. She actually elaborates about her split with Sean, who she calls a wonderful man and that it's better to learn from your mistakes than keep making them. She tells Glenn this was her reaching out in hopes that he would sign the divorce papers.
We see Gunnar visit his brother J.C. who... is being released from prison. He doesn't seem happy to see Gunnar.
Juliette signs autographs before the show. She is served with papers to show up at an anulnment hearing the next day.
Liam enters Rayna's dressing room which is full of flowers. She gives him a gift to say thanks. Its a pair of cowboy boots. She welcomes him to country music.
Deacon shows Scarlet around backstage and she meets Cy. She is a little starstruck. And he hits on her.
Julitte sound checks with "Boys and Buses." Juliette decides to drop "Love Like Mine" from the set, huffily.
Teddy checks in with the girls, whose babysitter says she's voting for him. The girls say they are very proud of him. Daphne says she's getting popular now that Teddy's going to be mayor.
Rayna tells Glenn to cancel her ticket to go home for Teddy's party. She goes to sound check and Jliete's still onstage. Liam confronts her. They fight.He lies down on the stage. Juliette stalks off. She tells Glen to get the jet ready. Rayna jokingly asks for Liam to stay for the whole tour.
Gunnar and J.C. check into a motel. He's been in jail for 8 years. He didn't have a single visitor. Gunnar says he's set up at a halfway house and if he can stay for six months maybe he can bring him to Nashville with him. J.C. fires up a tune on the guitar. He asks Gunnar to chime in, and he does. It's a song about being ia fugitive and dodging jail. They harmonize nicely. They laugh.
Rayna is primping before the show and Liam comes in. He's not wearing the boots. He says it's not him and he's not Deacon. And says trying to turn anyone into Deacon is a problem and that she's scared of playing without him. She says she's not.
Meanwhile, in Atlanta Avery hooks up with Dominic to talk about the contract. Dominic says Marilyn is just trying to eat, and that he,Dominic, is investing time and money to turn him into a star. They decide to take a ride and he lets Avery drive his cherry Mustang converitble.
It's post-show in Austin and Scarlet is praising her uncle. Cy asks Deacon to come sign some guitars and pulls Scarlett into the Revel Kings party room. He impresses her with some art.
Juliette goes to see Sean in Oakland. She tells him that it's quicker to get a divorce than an anulment. He is mad, especially knowing that she knew what marriage meant to him and tells her to apologize and take responsibility for what she did. She asks him to sign the divorce papers. He says he only plans on gettign married once and he wants an anulment.
Everyone leaves the party room backstage in Austin and Cy hits on Scarlet hardcore and makes a move. She tries to rebuff him and he struggles with her. One of the other band members alerts Deacon and he fights his way in. Deacon throws Cy into table. Cy says it's his band and Deacon is just visiting. Deacon retorts that the visit is over and he quits. Scarlet pulls him out.
Back in San Diego, Juliette returns and bumps into Liam who apologizes. She notes he can apologize. He says he didn't need to apologize for earlier since she was being rude. She protests she wasn't. He notes that she's never wrong. She stalks off.
In Austin, Gunnar returns to find that J.C. has pawned his guitar for a gun, a clear parole violation. J.C. yells at him for "leaving" him all those years ago. Gunnar says he was 16 and he watched J.C. put a gun in a clerk's face. He has felt guilty for leaving him but points out that he didn't rob the store. He says he can't understand how the same guy who looked after him and taught him how to play guitar, how he ended up like J.C. J.C. says he screwed up. He says he's glad that Gunnar didn't. He hugs Gunnar. And leaves with his gun.
Rayna finishes up her set and gets a huge ovation. She introduces her new song and at the same time Liam, who she calls a legend in his own right. She then sings the new one she's been writing and recording with him.
Backstage as Juliette preps, watching Rayna, she looks at her engagement ring, and then at herself in the mirror.
Coleman and his wife prep for the next day, election day. She tells him whatever happens, she loves him.
Across town, Teddy sits alone in his and Rayna's bedroom and watches the news, which glosses right over him and talks about Rayna.
Juliette is finishing up her set and she dedicates the next song to "somebody that I used to know" and then kicks into "Love Like Mine." The crowd loves it. At side stage, Bucky tells Rayna that Juliette is good, but that Rayna is better. He tells her tonight was her victory and tomorrow will be Teddy's. She decides to go home.
The next morning, at the hotel in Austin, Scarlet apologizes for getting Deacon fired. He says she didn't, and she gave him reason to quit. He says some guys don't know how to be humble about their talent and that he used to think Cy was a jerk because he was a drunk and he's realized that's not true.
Avery meets with Marilyn in Atlanta and says he signed the contract. Dominic gave him the Mustang as a bonus. Marilyn is disgusted, she says her job is to protect him and he's an idiot for accepting a car instead of a real advance. He says her job is work for him and to get on board or get out the way.
Gunnar goes to pick up Scarlett and he comes clean about his brother doing time and picking him up. She apologizes for not asking before and says she's got plenty of time if he wants to talk about it.
Juliette meets with Sean, the lawyers and the judges for the anulment hearing. Sean is claiming she entered into the marriage under fraudulent circumstances. She doesn't contest the anulment, and admits to the fraud and withdraws her divorce petitions. The lawyers head off with the judge and Juliette apologizes to Sean and says she was never going to be the wife he deserved and she knew he knew that as did she. He says she once told him that he wouldn't like her very much if he got to know her and he says she was right.
Rayna shows up while Teddy and the girls wait for election results. He says it's a nice surprise. She says she wanted to support him. They turn up the news. The results are in: Teddy is the mayor. Rayna congratulates him. Coleman concedes gracefully and thanks his wife sweetly.
Teddy waves to the crowd after his victory speech and the girls join him. Lamar and Tandy watch from above. Lamar says Rayna will come around thanks to the aphrodisiac of a powerful man. Tandy laughs. She points out that Lamar bought the election for him even after Teddy asked him not to and says she will never speak to him again. Lamar says he likes to take credit for things but Teddy got it on his own. Tandy is unconvinced.
An aide thanks Teddy and departs. There is a knock at the door. It's Peggy Kintner. He, stupidly, lets her in. He asks after her. She says the pills were a mistake, she wasn't trying to commit suicide. He reassures her that she'll be fine. She says he's going to be a great mayor. She says should go. He agrees. She touches his face but they don't kiss.
