30 Years of CITV
jboothmillard7 January 2013
Warning: Spoilers
When I was a child growing up, every time I came home from school, that was when my favourite children's television programmes channel would start, around 3:25pm, and I watched every single show that it showed, and even though it is broadcast now as its own channel on Freeview, I still have fond memories of CITV. On the 3rd January 1983 CITV (Children's ITV/Children's Independent Television) started broadcasting, and the year 2013 was when the channel celebrated its 30th anniversary, and this documentary was broadcast as part of the celebrations, and it was the perfect opportunity for me to reminisce on my childhood and gain back the nostalgia of seeing many clips of the great show I watched. The shows that had clips shown and were talked about were: No. 73, Get Fresh, Gimme 5, SM:TV Live, Ministry of Mayhem, Madabout, On Safari, Jungle Run, Knightmare, Fun House, How 2, Starstrider, Pump It Up, Robin of Sherwood, My Parents Are Aliens, Press Gang, Children's Ward/The Ward, Danger Mouse, Engie Benjy, Art Attack and Sooty (including The Sooty Show, Sooty & Co and Sooty Heights). Other shows seen in clips but not talked about were: Metal Mickey, Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids, Grotbags, Rosie and Jim, and Rod and Emu. The other shows they could have mentioned or shown clips of (many that I watched and enjoyed) could have been: The Adventures of Captain Pugwash, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, The Angry Beavers, Animaniacs, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond/Batman of the Future, The Big Bang, Brilliant Creatures, Button Moon, Butt-Ugly Martians, Cow and Chicken, Count Duckula, Crazy Cottage, Dexter's Laboratory, Digimon, Dr. Zitbag's Transylvania Pet Shop, Extreme Ghostbusters, Famous Four, Finders Keepers, Fingertips, The Forgotten Toys, Fraggle Rock, Garfield & Friends, Gerry Anderson's New Captain Scarlet, Goggle Watch, Harry and the Wrinklies, Hercules, Hey Arnold!, Hilltop Hospital, Jumanji, Kipper, The Legends of Treasure Island, Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies, Max Steel, Men in Black: The Series, Mopatop's Shop, The New Adventures of He-Man, Oggy and the Cockroaches, Old Bear Stories, Out of Sight, Pinky and the Brain, Pokémon, (Mighty Morphin) Power Rangers, The Quick Trick Show, Rainbow, The Real Ghostbusters, ReBoot, Recess, The Riddlers, Rupert, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Scooby-Doo, Scratchy & Co, Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century, Snug and Cozi, Superman: The Animated Series, Superted, The Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries, Tales from the Cryptkeeper, TaleSpin, Taz-Mania, Terror Towers, Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends, Timmy Towers, Tiny Toon Adventures, Titch, Tots TV, Tricky, Twinkle the Dream Being, The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat, Watership Down, What's Up Doc?, Whizziwig, Wizadora, Wolf It, The Wombles, Woof!, The Worst Witch, Zot the Dog and Zzzap! Narrated by Vernon Kay, with contributions from Steven Arnold (Ashley from Corrie), Christopher Biggins, Neil Buchanan, Richard Cadell, Matthew Corbett, Fearne Cotton, Jane Danson, Fred Dineage, Declan 'Dec' Donnelly, Samia Ghadie, Gareth Jones, Matthew Kelly (he launched the channel), Anthony 'Ant' McPartlin, Stephen Mulhern, Knightmare's Hugo Myatt, Jenny Powell, Pat Sharp, Blue Peter's Tim Vincent, Michael Underwood and Holly Willoughby. Very good!
