- Following another failed experiment involving a dead vicar and some cobbled-together consciousness-upload machinery, two scientists are inadvertently contacted - via their computer terminal - by an entity claiming to be God.
- In yet another experiment of questionable legality, Dr. Alli Bands and Dr. Doug Townshend steal a (dead) vicar from their university's pathology department. Their goal? To upload the human consciousness onto a computer memory system. Using technology comprised of spare parts and off-the-shelf components, they hook the vicar up and switch on the system. What appears at first to be a success quickly evaporates. The equipment suddenly malfunctions, the drives spin down and the computer screen is as dead as the vicar. The only sign of life is a flashing cursor in the console window. Then a message appears: 'Who in the name of Me are you?' What follows is a brief and at times surreal exchange between the scientists and an entity claiming to be 'God.' Despite their initial skepticism as to the vicar's lifelessness, Doug and Alli decide to engage with the entity, which raises more questions than it answers. With a sarcastic wit, formidable typing skills, and manifesting powers that to us appear like magic, the entity leaves Doug and Alli with little doubt as to the validity of the question 'What's the meaning of life?!?...'—ML, AM
