Something's just missing...not as good as it's predecessors!
sethompson-8077526 March 2023
I love word games and I loved all the previous forms of this game. Chuck Woolery: loved him back in the day! He had a great personality and brought it to the game! Bill Engvall: took me some time to get use to him, but he eventually came through. RuPaul: love him, but something is missing. Liked him at first; he is funny. The show isn't fun. The game is more difficult than it used to be. No clues are given. You have to guess it from the first letter only. Also, they add six letter words, and they're difficult to come by. I just don't like game shows anymore. On this one, the contestants that don't win go home empty handed; no consolation prize.

Worst Team Can Win at End? Why is it so easy?
actaction15 March 2023
Frustrating how often the entire game is moot and the team which is obviously not great steals the game by getting one lucky guess at the end. One guess should not undo an entire game of a team smoking the competition. I get wanting to give the behind team a chance to catch up, but it should be tougher for them to absolutely pass them. It always feels like at least one team that makes it to the final showdown is weak and lo and behold often that team totally chokes when it comes to actually playing Lingo, not just guessing a word with a overly obvious clue. Many clues I don't need a single letter and I'm already thinking of the answer. It's not fair and I've turned off the show at this point many times because of how irritating this is. Overall the show is good, a better version of the Game Show Network version with Chuck Woolerly. Rupaul is a personable host that has fun with the contestants and I think the show has long lasting potential.

Love Lingo, But...
jcpatriots20103 February 2023
I have always been a fan of the show. I used to love watching it on Game Show Network back in the day during the Chuck Woolery days, in the early 2000s, so I figured I would enjoy it like I always have. I have to say I am not a fan, especially with the host and it just feels so rushed and thrown together, plus RuPaul is not the right host for this show. He is so cringey with his sexual jokes about the lingo balls in this episode I just recently watched. The show could certainly be better if he was replaced. Perhaps it will get better as the episodes continue on, but I don't see much hope for it to improve.

The First Hit Prime Time Game Show of 2023
hfan7719 January 2023
I have been watching the first prime time network incarnation of Lingo and to me it has the potential to be the first hit game show of 2023. RuPaul Charles, in his first hosting assignment is outstanding and has great rapport with the contestants. But what makes this version stand out from the 1980s original version in syndication and its previous run on GSN is that Lingo is able to reach a bigger audience and more important, it's a show the viewer can play along with. Lingo is the show that will make you shout at the screen as the contestants try to solve Lingoes of five, six and 10 letters to win thousands of dollars in cash.

If you haven't seen Lingo yet, do so. It's a game you will be hooked on and it is destined to have a long run.

Amazing

Words games are so fun & Rupaul is electric. New favorite game show!! I love the music, energy and the host keeps me laughing. I was not expecting to love this show as much as I do... but, the game itself is well designed and incredibly fun. It is easy to understand and mirrors a lot of popular word games like wordle, scrabble, and puzzles from shows like Wheel of Fortune. The contestants are diverse and the levels of education are varied. There are neighbors, relatives, romantic couples, and all sorts of pairings that anyone can relate to. I cannot recommend this show enough and hope that you all enjoy it as much as I do :)

Luck has everything to do with it

Warning: Spoilers
As a Wordle fanatic, I was looking forward to this show's re-up and even considering filling out an application with one of my co-workers who is also a big fan of word-based brain games. However, the producers have taken all of the air out of the balloon with this poorly designed presentation. By super-sizing the reward for the final question, they essentially nullify any money earned throughout the majority of the game. The way the game is setup, it virtually doesn't matter how well you do until the final question which is pretty much a winner-take-all scenario where whoever has the quickest trigger wins. One pair of contestants was up $9,500 going into the final question which is worth $10,000. The final question was very easy. Both teams buzzed in quickly, but the team that was losing was a split-second quicker so they moved on to the finals. By doing this, you essentially tell the teams that were better the entire game that nothing they did mattered.

Unfortunately, Lingo fails to offer an enjoyable experience and will likely go the way of its previous iterations.
