The show ran Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. and featured vintage cartoons and improvised skits performed by actress Patricia Blake with help from her daughter Kathleen Blake and stage hands.
Patricia Blake invented characters for the show. Among them were "No Name Spider", "Magic in the Air", "Itsy Bitsy Pot", "Mr. Makeup Man" (with his giant powder puff) and others. Baby Daphne would address her viewers as "Witch-Watchers".
Though it was filmed by KHJ-TV, Channel 9 in Los Angeles from 1967, it was also distributed to WNEW-NY, Channel 5 and WOR-TV, Channel 9 in New York City after 1968. The series ended in 1970.
"Daphne's Cartoon Castle" with Patricia Blake was a last-minute replacement for the "Hobo Kelly" show. Blake was producer, writer, director and performer.
