The series' working title was "Residents of Perdition" but it was later changed to "Brimstone Terrace" after the building the characters live in.
The name "Beelzebub Scratch" comes from two separate sources. "Beelzebub" comes from many different forms of demonology. Usually representing an underling of the devil. The name "Scratch" was the name of the devil in Stephen Vincent Benet's short story "The Devil and Daniel Webster".
During production there were two instances of computer trouble slowing things down. In December of 2013 the PC being used to animate shorted out and became ultimately unusable. Almost a year later in December of 2014 the computer being used for editing had to be reformatted and ended up losing files in the process.
