This was one of most emotional and heartwarming episodes in the entire "Adventure Time" series, along with "Thank You" and "I remember you", showing a day in the lives of Marceline and Simon Petrikov as two survivors of the Mushroom War.
I think that is worth noticing that, despite the very dark setting (Which reminded me post-apocalyptic movies like "The Road") this episode still manages to have a certain degree of humor and optimism. For me, it was very sad (But also heartwarming at the same time) to see the efforts done by Simon Petrikov to protect Marceline, while trying to fight back the effects of the magic crown, which eventually will end turning him into the Ice King.
This episode, like the second part of Holly Jolly Secrets made me look the Ice King in a different manner, since here all his usual comical traits are portrayed as a symptom of a slow downfall into insanity, worrying (and scaring) the little Marceline. However, the conclusion of the episode turned out to be much more uplifting than I was expecting, ending on a happy scene.
10/10 (And I would rate it with eleven stars if I could)
