Comedy always sells. Proving this once again is Kanna Laddu Thina Asaiya. Santhanam's maiden production foray, a humour-based one, seems to be the perfect recipe for the festival occasion.

Santhanam, who has climbed many rungs in the comedian stakes in Kollywood has struck a chord with punchy and witty dialogues and is hugely popular these days.

He is at his best in 'KLTA' and shines through in the company of the remarkably popular 'Powerstar' Dr Srinivasan and Sethu. Vishaka dons the female lead in what turns out to be a laugh-riot.

The film directed by Manikandan is about three youths falling for the same girl 'a la' the Bhagyaraj-directed venture Indro Poi Naalai Vaa and stands out for Santhanam's one-liners and comical interludes.

The film revolves around the trio of Santhanam, Srinivasan and Sethu. The heroine Vishaka settles down in a house next to Sethu's.

He is bowled over by her and falls for her, almost immediately. Coming to know about the girl, Sethu's pals Santhanam and Srinivasan visit their friend often and spend a lot of time there. As expected, they too fall for her.

On his part, Srinivasan in a bid to impress her family enrolls in the Bharathanatyam classes run by the heroine's father, while Santhanam takes up singing classes with her uncle.

The rest of the story is what happens between the threesome and the girl and turns out to be a full-fledged entertainer with cameos by STR and Gautham Vasudev Menon.

Santhanam is the star but the role of Srinivasan and Sethu can't be underestimated while Vishaka looks pretty.

The rest of the cast includes VTV Ganesh, Kovai Sarala and Devadarshini and they too contribute to the mirth. In the end, 'KLTA' is an entertainer worth watching, if you are ready for a fun-filled ride.

Remake of the classic comedy
SivakumarBalachandran25 February 2014
Kanna Laddu Thinna Asaiya remake of the classic comedy movie Indru Poi Nalai Vaa is a feel light comedy entertainer (provided if we don't dig on the logics of the movie). What could you expect from a movie like this? Comedy on full throttle and zero logic on the story line. So this has been justified in the movie. Coming to the casting of the movie it has a huge comedy crew starting Santhanam, Power Star, Kovai Sarala, Devadharshini, Ganesh, VTV Ganesh and goes on.

On overall performances Santhanam delivers his own damage comedy style as usual. The lead lady role played by " Dull dhivya dhool dhivya" advertisement fame Vishakha Singh , she delivers cute smile almost all the time she is on screen and nothing more than that. She has tried hard to shake on song which was similarly choreographed as the bollywood fame Sheila Ki jawaani. Sethu the hero delivers a decent performance and tries to show himself among the two comedy kings onto his side. Other characters didn't have much screen space to show their comedy skills. One plus point about the movie is Power star. Yes so far he was a total damage comedy hero who was humiliated for his performances in his previous films. But the director has used this minus point of Power star and show cased it in a comic way which has worked well. Another plus point in the movie is the overall budget utilization, we never feel it as a low budget movie. Music by Thaman has surely helped the movie to a certain extent. The movie has guest stars Simbhu and Gautham vasudev Menon as surprise elements. Verdict: If you liked Tamil Padam you will enjoy this one. It has got many small spoof elements in the movie. Get in with a good friends gang for ultimate enjoyment. -Reviewed by Sivakumar Balachandran

Good Entertainer

As everyone knows, this is the remake of K.Bhagyaraj's 'Indru poi naalai vaa'. But in new style.

Santhanam, POWERSTAR, Sethu and Vishaka are the lead roles. Kovai Sarala, Shivsankar, Singer Ganesh are done decent jobs.

First Santhanam, Now he is the mass attraction for every tamil movie. At his own production and his own comedy track, he is awesome.

The POWER, This would be the turning point for this new star. He got good opening and keep the plot very strongly. We hope he realized that Comedy may be suited for him. We can expect such comedy roles from him in future.

The Intro- SETHU, He is nice. He keep the limits. Wherever and whatever he delivers as the needs. Director used him gently.

Heroine, Vishaka singh, Nice selection. Done better. Have good upcomings.

All other have done their part very well.

Totally Film is a mass entertainer. Open gates for POWER as New star, Santhanam as New producer, and New Hero and Heroine.

Very good.

powerpacked performance!

KLTA reiterates a strong message that "Average script (or) logical loopholes can be tolerated in a comedy movie, provided if it has 100% fun".

The major asset of this movie is our "POWER STAR" who consistently entertains us, right from his introduction scene. In an interview to a weekly magazine few months back, Power star was asked if he is trying to compete with Kamalhasan by doing a several roles in his next movie as Kamalhasan did in Dasavatharam. Power star simply replied that his only competitor is "Super star - Rajinikanth" and not any other actor. Somehow this interview came into my mind when I was watching the introduction scene of Power star since the whistles and claps for the introduction scene slightly created a mood of watching Super star movie. Power star simply shadows any other actor in the movie with his costumes, gestures, dialogue delivery etc etc. It will not be correct to say that power star has performed well; rather it is the director and Santhanam who has well understood the "Real-Image" of Power star and had correctly utilized him to make every scene a comedy festival. Power star was given with enough scenes and the good thing is that he was not given a chance to try anything serious which would have made things tedious.

Santhanam has done an excellent job with many outstanding one-liners and this movie will find place in top 5 Santhanam's movies for his comedy. There are many scenes which will make you laugh even after coming from theatres especially the scenes where Santhanam trying to learn music and Power star trying to learn dance. The movie ends up with a powerful dialogue from Santhanam towards Power star - "Nan comedyannu enakku theriyum, aana Nee comedyannu theriyamale irukkiye" which is simply super, super, super.

On the downside, screenplay of the movie has many loose ends and can never be compared with "Indru poi Nalai Vaa". The last 20 minutes of the movie looks too dramatic. But these are only minor glitches, which can be ignored in this kind of movies.

Final verdict - Guaranteed comedy entertainer for all ages.
