Bully or bullied
iagbo4526 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Did we all have bullies when we grew up? Either that or we were bullies. So yeah, I related to this episode where Nell has to write an obit for a popular girl from high school who made her daily life hell, and as a ghost, just canNOT turn off the burns. I remember in middle school that Susan Anderson would follow me around calling me a skank. I'm old so that was before Al Gore invented the internet and I could look that term up in the urban dictionary, but I could tell it was some sort of insult. I ducked my head down over the stack of books I always carried and scurried out of her sight. In this episode, thanks to her new friend Cricket, Nell learns a lot about why bullies bully and Dennis conquered his own fears with help from Sam.

Episode 3

Warning: Spoilers
It feels like Brittany Snow has been playing this exact same character for 20 years now and it has never really been that exciting, but what can you do. I suppose that there were worse guest star options here.

The basketball training montage was good fun and the Lexi character was surprisingly not as stilted and annoying as usual here. Her immediately commenting on getting the PA system put in was good fun.

This is a charming show and sort of fills that void that Single Parents left ABC when it signed off, but I have my doubts about how long of a run it will get, even if it will get that second season.

Brittany Snow is Super Sadsies
solojere9 March 2023
Nell is asked to write an obituary for a famous influencer, Piper (Brittany Snow), with whom she went to high school. Piper was Neil's high school bully. At the same time, Sam helps Dennis overcome an old fear of basketball, which is super funny. This episode was great. Brittany Snow is my all-time favorite actor, and she was perfect for this role. She is so good at playing the flaky social media influencer. However, unlike some of Brittany's other roles, Piper is actually pretty mean to Nell, even as a ghost. But I did like that there was a little more depth to Piper as the episode progresses. It was also cool that they used real photos of Brittany Snow that had been taken at different events at her funeral. It was also great to see Brittany and Gina together again after Someone Great. They have great chemistry, and I hope they do more projects together in the future. My only complaint was that it was so short, but it is just a 30-minute show, so what do you do? I don't normally watch this show, but this episode made me want to start. Also, I would totally recommend watching at least this episode for Brittany Snow alone.

Dreadful
orian8 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
1) why is show w/ a female lead & whose other main characters are mostly working moms mostly written by men who obv can't write dialogue for women?

2) why does the show's makeup dept think shoulder pads & upper lip peach fuzz is a good look for almost all the show's characters regardless of gender?

3) obits don't come AFTER memorials.

4) this episode can be summed up as boring mean girl revenge trope poorly written using basic sitcom mean girl trope mad libs. If you've seen anything about high school bullies on Disney Channel or Nickelodeon, you've seen this lame effort.

5) also appearing is the trope that art school kids are bad at sports. In reality the hand-eye coordination & athleticism required for dance & ballet has always translated very well on athletic courts/fields thank you very much. Just lazy writing to give Hannah Simone's character something to do & further demonstrate her character in this show is basically a COMPLETE REDUX of her character from New Girl.

Three episodes in & despite good actors this show seems more & more DOA due to its crappy writers.
