A low budget but ok apocalypse sci fi film. Couldn't watch all of it if honest. But as a labour of love for all involved they did a great job. And better than a lot of movies with ten times the budget.
Special mention to the brilliant costumes and weapons creates for the cast.
And extra point for the Super cute Neve actress. 😍

Rhyous (Brendan Guy Murphy) is the Wastelander, a post apocalyptic film that takes place well into the future. We later find out Rhyous was born in 2690. He walks around on the surface looking for Eden, battling scourgers. He makes reluctant alliances, preferring to travel alone.
The film was low budget with cheezy low budget effects, CG backgrounds, and bad fight choreography. The Front 242 graffiti managed to have lasted 700 years. The gladiator scene was a joke. apparently inspired by Thunderdome. The bad guy wasn't big enough to create the effect they wanted. Most people have a helmet with goggles, something not explained. Also the shooting effects left something to be desired.

OMG, what a horrible film! Other reviews disagree, but I couldn't watch more than a few minutes. I have always wondered what the advantage of having shoulder pads in the post-apocolyptic world is, as actors always have them? We're not talking kevlar or protection from firearms, we're talking basically football pads! Horrible costumes, horrible acting, horrible!

Wastelander is a little bit of everything. At times it's a film which is classic Troma in the style of not comprehending certain plot points, not understanding how certain characters died, the action sequences, certain exteriors, the editing, etc.
But then it's also a film which is up there with some very good Sci-Fi films by some of it's wonderful exterior shots, some of it's interesting characters and it's overall ambiance i.e. the gas masks, the creepy feel of the exteriors, the signs, etc. Then there's also a serene like quality about Wastelander in the same respects as The Bad Batch which is kind of touching. Wastelander is a film which explores all different aspects of film in general.
Also, The acting isn't too bad either. Brendan Guy Murphy owns the character as Rhyous and could easily be cast as the next Mad Max. Sian Vilaire has an interesting style and look to her and could easily be cast as a villain in the next Avengers movie.
Overall, Wastelander isn't a perfect film, but it's a very interesting one, and it's worth the watch.
