- Who is Silo?
For some, he is the thinker who promoted a spiritual and political movement that overcame borders and spread from Argentina to India.
For others he is the leader of a sect, a skilled manipulator and demagogue.
For most, it remains a mystery.
His real name was Mario Luis Rodríguez Cobos and he was born in Mendoza, on January 6, 1938.
In 1969, when he was only 31 years old, he secluded himself in a remote place in the Andes mountain range called Punta de Vacas, built a small stone house and dedicated himself to meditating.
On May 4 of that same year, hundreds of young people from different parts of the world approached this inhospitable place to listen to a speech by Silo, giving rise to an intense political, police and journalistic campaign around Silo accusing him of "False messiah" and "Provocative prophet ".
His words were denounced, his ideas were censored.
Since the 70s, he traveled the world taking his message to Europe, Africa and Asia, becoming a stubborn founder of spiritual communities that were oriented from the magical to the religious, from the cosmic-spiritual to the political, and from the partisan to the philosophical.
Mario Luis Rodríguez Cobos died in 2010.
But the legend of Silo is still valid.
The Message of Silo is a spiritual proposal based on the experiences of the Argentine writer Mario Rodríguez Cobos, known worldwide as Silo, founder of the Humanist Movement.
