As ending episode it wasn't as strong as it could be. I would describe this season as bland and boring, nothing interesting, just first episodes were surprising and then it gone down from hill.

S4: A few weaker elements, but mostly the usual high quality of writing and delivery makes for another very funny season

Much like previous seasons of this show, the consistency of the comedy is really one of its main selling points. Of course if you do not find it funny or to your taste then this is a moot point, but for me my sense of humor does seem to fit the creative, silly, crudity of this – particularly in regard to the fast and funny dialogue. The fourth season opens with Archer having lots his memory and living a normal life (in another TV show); a narrative which really doesn't offer a great deal apart from that joke. From here we have some plots that bring back in reoccurring characters of Barry and Katya, but mostly they are standalone episodes. The vast majority of these do their job – which is to create a frame for the characters to be their usual selves, and the dialogue to snap and fizz back and forth.

There are a few weaker moments in there – or elements that don't wholly work. Outside of his one episode, the addition of Ron Cadillac seems a fairly pointless character to have floating around. Other than that, the final two-parter at sea does feel like a bit of a retread of the season 3 equivalent in space, but not as funny or well plotted. Mostly though it does work. In terms of the cast, there are the usual scattering of bigger name cameos ranging from Timothy Olyphant through to Jon Hamm, however it continues to be that the lead performances are the best. Not only do they get the best lines, but their characters are consistent and their timing is good. Hard to pick a favorite from them, but Walter's crisp delivery is always fun, while Greer is a hoot and makes her silly lines work very well.

Season 4 may not be perfect, but it is consistently funny with good dialogue, well-structured running jokes, and generally very good delivery and timing from the cast; all of which make it deliver in the most important ways.

Archer Sea-Tunt: Part II
dalydj-918-25517512 April 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Season Four of Archer comes to an end with the second part of the two parter Sea-Tunt. The episode had everything I would have wanted in an episode of the show. They have been building up to Lana announcing to everyone he is pregnant for some time and the payoff from that announcement was beautiful especially from Archer nearly dying and Lana really showing she truly cares for at the same time as Cyril being jealous of her being pregnant not by him. The episode took place mostly under the sea but the short scenes back on the boat were good and the other women on the show (Malory, Cheryl and Pam) are always used for good one liner s not taking away but adding to the overall quality of the episode. The show may have returned Ray to his wheelchair but Lana being pregnant now will be interesting for next season to see if she takes a break or if Pam replaces her since she was good for comedy on the mission in Italy. Overall this season started off with the Bob's Burgers scenes up until this finale making it a great season for the show.

EPISODE GRADE: A- (MVP: Aisha Tyler)
