The only episode so far with writing and dialogue that really reflects how women really talk...no surprise, check the credits, it WAS written by a woman. It resonates truth, and not just in one scene but the entire episode feels authentic and nuanced. IMO, best episode so far.
The acting was superb, legendary Martin Mull, Gina Rodriguez...wonderful again! And they FINALLY gave Hannah Simone something to do! The rest of the ensemble as well were perfect in this episode, IMO.
What does let this episode down, though, is that Nell, although she talks about a miscarriage NEVER MENTIONED BEFORE, still doesn't come clean to Sam about the ghosts, nor has anyone even brought up Nell CONSTANTLY talking to herself. If you're going to have a heart-to-heart as a friend you were worried about, I mean REALLY worried about coming off a big trauma, who was constantly talking to people not there FOR MONTHS, then this would definitely be brought up now.
Still frustrated at why the ghost power's origins are still not revealed. Must mean producers/execs/writers are still arguing about them and the rules behind the scenes. Most tv writers are so ham-fisted that if this had been decided already it would have been blurted out already.
Anyway, best episode so far. Hope they let women writers continue to take the lead for a show featuring a female lead and main supporting characters but won't hold my breath.
