Uses a handkerchief
rpl-2283712 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I like Will Trent! He uses a handkerchief and washes it to reuse it. Yes, he folds it and puts it back in his pocket! That is better than throwing away thousands of pieces of paper that they sawed down trees to make! Where does that paper go? Landfills? He is strange, but loving and kind. The actor was more handsome in earlier roles, but he is so lovable in this one. He is intelligent and observant like the great detectives, but eccentric like Monk. I prefer watching this detective show more than many others because of the characters created, especially the title character. This is a great show!

Not the best
kep31526 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is my least favorite episode so far in a season that's been really good. My problem with it stems from the fact that I find it hard to believe that a police officer (in this case, one of the main characters, Will Trent's partner, Faith Mitchell) could be so easily accused of committing a murder, and no one even bothers to question that it's totally out of character for her to have done so. The whole thing seems ludicrous, and yet no one but Will, and Will and Faith's boss, are the least bit skeptical. Not even Ormewood (at first) thinks it's odd that she would do such a thing for apparently no good motive. I can only hope that this episode is an anomaly.

Wrapped up way too tightly, this feels like a waste of time and stakes

Warning: Spoilers
The A-plot of this episode centers around Faith and a man being framed for the murder of a cop by his sociopathic and corrupt partner. For the most part, the story did a great job elevating the stakes of the living partner's profile as a dangerous person and establishing a sense of report between Faith and the escapee, it made the entire episode feel like it was building to something bigger, a 4-6 episode arch where we see Faith Mitchell, a young detective, fight against a corrupt senior officer trying to put her in jail forever, all while trying to reconcile with the sudden romance she's found herself but NOPE. They made sure not a single major detail was hanging so the story could conveniently move along in a grossly over-sanitized way. No stakes, no mystery, no excitement, just Trent and Faith literally laughing off the fact that she just shot another cop in the head, likely leading to her being placed on administrative lead and permanently affecting her reputation with the department and her physique, as this is, for all we know, the very first time she's killed someone on the job.

A WASTE of the stakes that this story could've potentially had. Massive disappointment. But a great job, as usual, by the entire cast. This show is just written in such a childish fashion, I can't reason with it sometimes.

Easily The WORST Episode Of Season 1
So obvious the writers have NO experience with either law enforcement, criminal procedures or firearm use. "Agent" Mitchell would have so many disciplinary chits against her she'd never be allowed in the field again; from leaving the woman unprotected in the courthouse, not having her firearm out and in ready position, to numerous other examples of what NOT to do in an active shooter situation. And then, the fight at the perps friends house with APD and SHE LEAVES??? Not Believable. And don't say 'she feared for her life' then she finally fights in the last scene under the exact same circumstances. What Garbage !!!

ATTENTION PRODUCERS: SOMEONE in house should have reviewed this script and sent it back for rewrite or given it to other writers to fix all the holes. And don't say its only for entertainment, so is SWAT/Chicago PD and NUMEROUS other police/detective shows, yet THEY seen to get their scripts right !
