Letter from Helvetica is a humorous, epistolary series consisting of emails shared between Abigail Wesley, a young and talented botanist on a yearlong research project in the South Pacific, and her Uncle John, a retired Lieutenant Colonel living in the tiny Cornish village of Helvetica. The lives of villagers separated by thousands of miles and in opposite hemispheres is contrasted to reveal how very different and yet how very similar they are. The relationship between Abigail and her Uncle is considerably more cordial than that which she enjoys with her father, his brother. Sharing a similar sense of humour, they keep each other amused relating the warp and weft of community life in their contrasting locations. Letter from Helvetica is the collected chronicles, tales, musings and canards that constitute John and Abby's correspondence, introducing us along the way to a veritable mishmash, jumble and salmagundi of diverse characters.
