She was dumped, drunk and clingy
alaningle727 May 2023
Deborah played beautifully by Yoo In-na is a dating coach who gives advice on relationships through her books and radio show. She seems to have a perfect life but it all falls apart when she finds out her rich boyfriend who she thinks is about to propose to her is actually cheating. It is a true to life story with experiences most of us can relate to with how pathetic we can become when our romantic life falls apart. A well acted drama with a good supporting cast who show off different relationships at different stages and the every day struggles people go through in deciding what's right for them.

Your every word and action brings me heaven one day and hell another....

I don't know what I was expecting when I started this drama but I was not expecting this quality at all.

This series is real, relatable, honest and very smartly written.

It doesn't romanticize the typical toxic traits of love relationships but instead it calls them out.

It highlights how ugly it can get when a relationship fails and also tells that healing is about working on yourself, admitting when something can't be forced or fixed and how EVERYTHING will pass.

It is okay when love is over, as everything in live has an expiration date, so be true to love and to life and enjoy the present giving it all you have.

The story is mature and silly at the same time and it has so many funny parts.

I loved the FL character and how hard she tries to rewrite herself into a more real version of herself and what real life is about. I discovered Yoo In Na in Goblin and to be honest I never thought much of her as an actress, but she surprised me greatly with her role as Bo ra, absolute show of all emotions and feelings and she has an hilarious comic side I didn't know, it was truly great.

The main couple has good chemistry as well and Was a bit slow for my taste the last few episodes hence I didn't give it a 10, but was almost there.

Excellent healing drama, filled with great dialogues and smart topics.

Enjoy!!!

Lots of Comical Moments
PalmBeachG14 June 2023
Loved this Rom-Com (called "True to Love" on Amazon), which doesn't disappoint. It has lots of comical moments that will make you laugh. The ML Yoon Hyun-Min does a great job at playing the handsome, smart, successful publisher VP who has the personal problem of not being able to vocalize his true feelings to a woman and gets dumped. The FL does a great job as well who is a dating coach and author but gets dumped herself. There are side love stories in their circle that are just as fun to watch and comical situations to make you laugh. The reason I didn't give it 10 stars is that I think the script went too far with the May/Dec crush/romance of the barely an adult and the mature CEO of the publishing company.

Best romcom in 2023 so far
nofitagunawan18 May 2023
Watching this without any expectation since got none to watch. Suprisingly got hooked up since eps 1. The story is so relatable. The actresses and actors are amazing, especially Yoo In Na as Bora. She perfectly potrays her role, as if the part was made just for her.

The drama is lovely, fun. There are sadness in the beginning and sometimes embarrassing too but so relatable in life. Nothing is boring here, the story flows nicely.

I read the rating is low in Korea and i don't get it. But i guess international audiences likes it a lot, so it get good rating. A must watch if you are into romance comedy.

This is a true romcom please watch it

Warning: Spoilers
I just finished this series after it's finale dropped a mere hours ago, I usually avoid ongoings because I can't handle the anticipation but for this I was willing o break my rule!

First I want to praise Yoo Inna, she embodied her role as a leading lady in this, we laughed with her, we cried with her, we were angry with her and her strong performance kept my eyes glued to the screen the entire time.

Now onto the drama, Bo ra! Deborah, is the story of a dating coach who has coined love as a game that has winners and losers and she ends up becoming one of those so called losers. Her heartbreak has her reevaluate what she's believed about life and love so far. A successful career woman, caretaker of her younger sister but lacking in love. Now this story has the essence I think a lot of romcoms have lost along the way, not the drama, not the suspense, not even the romance part but the journey of finding yourself.

This drama explores three main love stories and two others. Debora's ofcourse. Her bestfriend Yu Jeoung and her husband Jin Woo, her sister Bo Mi and a fresh out of military Jin Ho. I love how Deborah handles all these different kind of love stories, not everyone 's love story looks the same and not everyone's journey with love is the same but at the end of the day it's okay.

One of my favourite characters is divorcee Seo Soo Jin, the cheif editor of the style fashion magazine. For her, her journey with love was discovering that it wasn't for her after a divorce and I feel like those stories aren't told enough. Yet she's fine.

True to love also addresses how marriage doesn't mean you've reached the end, in the couple between Yu Jeong and Jun Woo, you still have to try and show up for each other and not take each other for granted. It also addresses the way men sometimes talk about their wives as if they are their prison wardens and not women they love and chose to live with. This 'i hate my wife', 'my wife always nags me' thing has been so common and normalised in media and in reality and i love this drama for saying that this is absolutely not right.

From what I understand, this drama's low rating comes from the main character's 'embarassing' personality. I would say her personality is real, Deborah feels like a real person and not just a character to me. She has dimensions, she is a successful writer, a good friend, an older sister and a filial daughter. One of the things I love is how she is not faux modest about her beauty and her charm, she is aware she's gorgeous and she can be brazen. She's outspoken and she's a lover girl. She doesn't have false pride and is straightforward about what's bothering her, what she thinks and feels though she does sometimes struggle to and needs to gather her courage. To me, she's quite frankly a refreshing lead. She's not absolutely perfect and she's not absolutely imperfect either, she has her flaws that make her human and not a bad person. I could go on for ages about why she's one of the best characters in romcom history ever.

All i have to say is please watch this drama with an open heart and mind.

Good enough
PennyReviews13 June 2023
Korean Drama " Bo Ra! Deborah " is a new aged romantic comedy.

The drama focuses on Deborah and how she experiences her whole world view crumbling down.

Being centered around its female lead, the drama needed strong performances to be able to pull it off, and, indeed, Yoo In Na does a great job monopolizing each and every scene.

The rest of the cast is enjoyable as well, with the side characters being especially entertaining.

However, when it came to the story, the drama started strong, yes, but did not maintain the momentum. The series started losing each charm episode after episode, with the love story being a slow burn, and the plot going in circles.

So, overall, six out of ten.

Cutest Modern Love
sufeiya26 May 2023
This is the best romance k-drama I watched for a long time. It surprised me in many good ways. Usually I could predict how these romances plots go, not this one. I was not sure how the writer would end the main couple until the last episode. The ups and downs are very real as lives should be. The actings are excellent too. The dialogues are witty. Four different couples exhibit relationship in various stages of lives. The chemistry among the actors and actresses were real. Of course, like any other modern Korean dramas, a lot of drinking scenes. I always wonder if that's true in their society.

So much beautiful

I never ever seen a movie like this .

Everything is in a right place . We know this kind of loves aren't that much real, but author don't let you think about that just one second.

Always you'll find a new story that can distract you for ages. I don't want to say that this movie is so so so perfect, but it's so so perfect.

The best part about the movie : you can solve a problem in one part of it and you don't have to wait like one weak to find out what's going on.

And about actors, this method in this kind of movies is so important. And they make the best decision about actors.

Main roles are awesome also support roles.

I wish luck for them, but they don't need it, because it pets your hart.

Gifted Acting, Finely Crafted Story, Best yet of 2023
OldGuyUS26 May 2023
When I read that this series was coming, I was truly excited. Touch Your Heart is my all time favorite KDrama. While everything about that show was great, it was Yoo In-Na's acting - her interpretation of her role - that was genius and made the show truly special. Could she pull it off again?

And I was not disappointed! Once again, she was the true driving force behind a series and elevated it to be as good as it possibly good be. Her ability to communicate emotions. The uniqueness of her expressions and the inflections of her voice... Amazing. Thanks to the those who cast her as Deborah!

I fee a bit like a broken record, because Kdrama acting is often so good, but I just have to say it. Everyone cast in this series was phenomenal.

Yoon In Na... Well, I've said it. She makes this story shine and we feel for her throughout the arc of the story.

Yoon Hun-Min as the male lead was so good. Dang, watching his character was so frustrating! So obviously he nailed the role and made it believable no matter how unbelievable it could have been.

Hwang Chan-Sung's role as the ex. I hated his guts! His acting sparked the feelings we were meant to feel.

Park So-Jin was sooo good in Sh**ting Stars.** And she was fantastic here. Her portrayal of a women in a listless marriage truly had our sympathy. I hope to see here as a lead in series to come.

Let's hope we see so much more of Kim Ye-Ji. She is so cute and really did well in what I think is a difficult role - both strong and unsure of herself at the same time.

The story: Once again the Koreans' writing craft is so amazing. This was a tightly woven tapestry of multiple couple's evolving relationships. There was not a dull minute for my wife or I and we could not wait for each new episode. As the story was coming to an end I could not believe we had seen 13 episodes already and we were almost done. No feeling of, "This is starting to drag and I need to fast forward" in this series! I know we won't get it, but Season 2 please!

My one complaint is that at key points, the Male Lead did not communicate and it was just hard to believe. I am sure there are people who are, in a sense, broken like that. But he was given so many chances... Yeah, I know it can happen, I was pretty much that screwed up when I was young. But watching it drove me nuts! Then again, the story had me locked in so the writers obviously know what they are doing. :-)

If you want to read a good review of the story itself, check out ameerahcarol's review. So good it reads like a professional review.

Watch it!

A good watch but also not believable
hzjjwxrn6 June 2023
All in all this show was pretty entertaining to watch. It was pretty cute and funny and I had myself tearing up at some parts. But there are some things that are really noticeable to the point where I'm like "how could this ever actually happen?" Like men constantly following the women home, Deborah waking up in absolutely perfect makeup, characters continuously overhearing others talking about them. Characters randomly showing up at times where it would be such a huge coincidence but it happens multiple times. It makes it unrealistic and off putting which is unfortunate because this show could be so much better without all of that.

Very relatable to reality
aisyahfuuen30 May 2023
Love all the character development and the ending! In the first few episodes I already put an 8/10 because it is so good! The male and the female lead chemistry is too good that I hope they will have a drama again together in the future. Its not just them but all the other actors also did very well, I love how funny this drama is despite some of the sadness but its really worth it. I recommend this drama to those who are in a relationship, somehow it will help you to understand more about yourself and your partner, what to do and what you should not do in relationship. Communication is very important in relationship, especially to women since they tend to overthink. This drama truly shows what happen if we truly have a misunderstanding, and how our decisions may affect others' future too.

Loved it, watching it again
behen-9310419 June 2023
VERY Fun to watch, the ML and FL did an awesome job, the supporting case did a great job too, which makes it a very wholesome watch. Sojin i love you! Dont watch it alone IF ur in a relationship, watch it with your partner, with a glass of wine in hand. You will not only get a LOT of laughs, you will also get to discussing things you never knew you wanted to talk about, but which mattered to either of you. I am so glad that Yoo In-na is getting full on FL roles now. It was interesting to see a Korean drama take on older man younger woman relationship, given how korean society is still conservative in a lot of areas, shows how kdramas are maturing.

An Anatomy of Rejection
refordgarry2 June 2023
Don't give up on Ep. 1, sensing just another feminist, man-slamming drama. Tables are about to get completely flipped in a sensational retraction of Deborah's personal philosophy. The raw emotion of it all is pretty un-Korean, but transcendental of both sex and culture - that truly unites the World. How one gets up from Life's sucker-punches is what makes this drama so fascinating. The fact that all the male characters in are tongue-tied and feeble ought to be a problem, but it is astutely resolved here by over-loquacious but equally vulnerable females devising the four couples. Role of "woman scorned" is performed to perfection by glamorous actress, Deborah (Lee Soo-hyeok), who casts a big shadow on all around her. The scenes, dialogue, and episodic layout here have been intricately planned in a very intelligent drama. If only producers could give audiences more like this.

A Clever Series full of references and LOVE
dina-k-kobrosly7 June 2023
This series is utterly captivating, relatable and true to its theme! It's all about love, including ups and downs, as well as the awkward and sometimes humiliating breakup arguments. You can see all that through four distinct couples at different relationship stages. It's not just another rom-com, it's written in a very smart way where its full with references to books, people, shows and characters and that what make the show really enjoyable.

When you watch it, you find yourself giggling and cringing on behalf of the characters, where you smile and feel touched by the situations and scenes. The characters and their storylines are very relatable, as we all recognize that clingy friend who couldn't get over her ex because they didn't have a proper closure.

Everyone is the protagonist of their own love story. A lot of these protagonists think that they're true to their love and they're the ones who's making all the sacrifices just because there is a lack of communication in their relationship. This series is a breath of fresh air, everything about it is lovable, and every scene holds a meaning and one can resonate with it.

Head over heels

Warning: Spoilers
I absolutely loved this show!

I was actually devastated when I realized I had watched all the episodes.

The show kept me on my toes just waiting for the main characters to fall in love.

Of course it has great plot points with other characters and shows you their stories as well.

If the writers would have released 7 seasons of this show, I would've waited on hand and foot to watch every single one of them.

If you haven't watched this show already and are a hopeless romantic, please please please give it a shot!

11/10.

Definitely in my tops of favorite shows.

Everyone played their part so well.

Too stretched
unrivaledraj21 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I really wanted to like the show, but I just couldn't bring myself to it. The plot is far too stretched, side character stories don't provide much or go deep into the issues. The main leads chemistry was on/off and by the last episode it got me so tired and annoying that at a point I wished they won't end up together and just keep to themselves because that's what they did for 95% of the show.

Will start with ML, I have previously seen him as male lead in My Love Holo, and he did a decent job there. Here as well, nothing against the actor but it's the writers who were clueless.

I absolutely love In Na, she is perfect casting for such characters, not by any means a fabulous actress, but she's pretty good in these. But again 'sigh' the writers.

What doesn't work(or didn't for me), was the story, or the point of the show, like I didn't understand what the makers wanted to show through this. The FL couldn't get over her ex, acted clingy, let's her emotions take control, gets humiliated multiple times, but yet when her ex keeps trying to get back, not till the last 20 minutes she could be firm and say a clear no to him or cut him off once and for all. She has had feelings for the ML for a while but still rebukes him in the last for not saying out loud that he likes her, even though she had been doing the same, even saying to herself multiple times that she won't like him.

The ML isn't written any better, on that note, none of the male characters are written well, they're all flawed deeply, and at times couldn't help but feel that writers just wanted to do subtle male bashing for no reason. Even the ML, has no qualities, wasn't charming or romantic or witty or even the cliché 'cool'. I just couldn't bring myself to care about the main leads or their romance. Even though they had the moments, it just never fully happened, I guess that's what their show was about, but it wasn't enough for 14 episodes.

There are too many problems with the show and just not enough to make me like it. The show is all about break ups and love and how one comes out of it and fall into another. But it doesn't go deep enough into any of the issues addressed, neither it's the lovey dovey, fluffy romance for me to look the other way, it just slowly, meagrely builds up to nothing, no character development.

I still rate it 5, for In Na, decent music, some parts which are real life relatable, and the breakup and closure of the ML and his ex.

I won't recommend this show.

One of the best romantic K-dramas
soneagu20 February 2024
Actually, it's more than it! One of the best screenplays of romantic k-dramas I have ever watched (and not only k-dramas, but in general), with strong impact to our lives, superb actresses/actors (Yoo In-na is at the top of her game, but she is not the only one playing beautifully), and funny, funny, funny! I laughed a lot, learned a lot, and enjoyed basically every moment! You will not be disappointed at all! I loved the scene at the restaurant when In-na showed to the main lead her methods of seducing; I laughed, but not only!

All the lines are great, and I hope you'll enjoy them even if you are a k-drama beginner! Thank you, Amazon for it!
