Excellent drama with some strange flaws

Warning: Spoilers
Why would our hero have a weekend cottage close to Edinburgh when they live and work in London. It's a 400 mile trip. Pointless for a weekend.

The final 'murder' as described in the Scottish court is located in Kielder Forest. Kielder Forest is entirely in England - so the court case wouldn't have been held in Scotland. The not proven verdict he needed isn't an option in England.

Just very odd.

The days when BBC drama was Good

This 2 part mini series was done in 2013 when the BBC were still producing class dramas sadly that is no longer the case now but hey how back to The Escape Artist the story was good it had its flaws but generally not bad as even though I managed to guess what was about to happen it was really only minutes before it did so the suspense was still relatively kept. Good choice of actors whom delivered good performances I think it was a good mini series and entertaining definitely worth a watch.

Why do they have smart characters act so stupidly?????

Warning: Spoilers
I love all the actors in this, but this first episode left me wondering if I should bother with more. Intelligent characters making incredibly unintelligent choices is a tired plot device. For example, wife has a harrowing experience at the very remote cottage with a "peeping Tom". The following weekend, wife CAN'T WAIT for husband to accompany her and son up to very remote cottage and so they go up alone? Really? I think I'd stay in the high rise that weekend. Also, father and son dealing with severe emotional trauma and potential continuing threats... Dad hasn't bought kid a cell phone to stay in contact? Again, we're supposed to believe he's this brilliant barrister... and yet, the bad character choices for the sake of plot make me not have a lot of faith in this so far.
