This is the story of how Roger came to earth
mustafaalmustafa-6678431 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Episode talk about how Roger came to earth as it was an question need to be answered the episode. It is generally good, especially with the recent seasons of American dad, the episode have huge flaw all the plot hole episode have like the shows that Roger have is super speed but also weirdly show show him in a space suit even when we saw him a lot of times that he can survive in space like in the episode, where the smiths needed to escape from him in space, and he followed them a Nother plot hole that in the episode Roger didn't go to area 51 we know that he gone from the pilot, but in the episode the we see him escaping from the CIA At least it was good laugh sometimes some of the jokes need to have some special taste to laugh at them, but in the end it was a fun time.

Yet another different take on the show; American Dad keeps evolving
koepfer23 April 2023
It's remarkable how American Dad manages to break out of its confines once or twice every season. This episode is one such occasion and it over-delivered if you have a sense for fiction that is more than just the silly 2-dimensional laugh track wrapped into a 20 minute cartoon.

The episode is a deep dive into Roger's origins on earth. It blanks out the Smiths and every rule established about the universe of the show. The humor is there and keeps dripping throughout the episode, but it is dialed down and remains behind the plot only supporting it when needed.

I love these expansions, which are the only way of keeping a fictional series of this kind alive. It has to break with its own conventions at one point. Otherwise it falls into a feedback loop of vapid repetition. Few others manage a similar turn and renewal, Archer would be one such current example, South Park as its own category another.

Others though, from The Simpsons, to Family Guy and increasingly even Rick and Morty fail in this evolution. The audience of American Dad may be smaller than theirs, but those who understand and appreciate the creativity behind the show's takes and perspectives will certainly stay and applaud.

American Dad Make a Spin off!!
ilovejimmy-943509 March 2024
I am a huge fan of American Dad and Roger is my favorite character. I have been waiting and wondering if they were going to ever create a episode that shows how Roger got to planet earth. I mean in pass episode's we found out that he crashed in Roswell in 1949. Based off what actually happened in New Mexico In the summer of 1949. They could create such a amazing show showing all of Roger's advantages before he got trapped by the CIA and was at area 51 when Stan met him. I believe the show would be a great success!! I love aliens and Roger is my favorite cartoon alien!! The show would of course be ok 18+ or it wouldn't be fun!

Fellow Traveler

Warning: Spoilers
At long last we have a new season of American Dad, but if this is the kind of episode we're going to get, I don't know, maybe it is better off not coming back.

There were very few laughs here and I won't understand why we did not see any of the other family members, even in a brief cameo or for a small side storyline.

It was just all Roger and not even a good or coherent setting for him. For the most part this was a series of bad gags that did not really land at all.

American Dad almost always makes me laughs, outrageous premise or not, but absolutely not in this case and that's upsetting to me.

Something happened starting with Season 17
center_of_the_sun29 May 2023
As the title says, something happened starting with season 17 that changed American Dad for the worse.

The team working on AD started missing the essence of what the show was. There's no clever writing anymore that really surprises you with its jokes, the characters are too quirky and random, the storylines are not interesting. I have not bothered to check if they changed writers or not, but either way, something happened with the team making the show.

Consider this episode, for example, Fellow Traveler. Do we REALLY need to know Roger's backstory of why he's able to change personas so well? It feels like they're running out of ideas. If you would've just shown him as a crazy, sassy alien on his home planet, that would have been much better. Show us what stupid things he did on his home planet as Roger, because THAT'S where he actually became that way, not on Earth. It's just poor writing.
