The Real Story: Scream (2013)
*** 1/2 (out of 4)
This episode takes a look at Wes Craven's SCREAM and the case that many believe influenced it. This case took place in Gainesville, FL where five bodies were found brutally mutilated and soon the police realized that they were all done in by the same person.
I'm not going to lie, I really didn't think there were too many connections to the Craven film but with that said, there's no doubt that this is a very good and interesting episode that takes a look at the case, which would become known as The Gainesville Ripper. There are some nice interviews with the State Attorney, a local reporter as well as some that investigated the case and you really get a great idea of how brutal the murders were and what all happened in order for the case to be cracked.
Again, fans of the Craven film checking this out for a bigger connection might be disappointed but I think those who enjoy these murder/mystery shows should enjoy this. The case itself is quite interesting as is some footage of a blood expert talking about how the blood left behind can tell a major story in regards to what happened.
