- In the first episode, a man and a woman are surrounded by noble people in a bedroom as part of a consummation ritual and they begin to undress. They kiss and there is moaning and thrusting that is seen.
- One of the characters is seen to masturbate at the top of the stairs. Another characters comes behind her and starts kissing her, implying that he is performing a sex act on her.
- A man and a woman are kissing heavily and they have sex.
- A woman walks in on a man and woman having sex. The characters are partially unclothed.
- Two characters kiss. They are presumed to have had sex, as you see a naked man on a bed, although his actual nudity is not shown because genitalia/buttocks are obscured.
Violence & Gore

- In the second season there is a graphic sexual assault scene.
- There is a lot of violence on the show, and while it is often quick there is usually a lot of blood. It can seem very gory.*
- There is a lot of sword-fighting on the show. A lot of people are stabbed, but it is often brief without blood.
- A woman is seen to be bleeding from her ears, nose and mouth and is also sick.
- A man is beheaded on camera. It is very sudden and although there is a lot of blood, it is blurry.
- A man had his hand cut off on camera. He is also stabbed with a fork in the chest. There is not a lot of blood from the wound, however he is shown to be bleeding from his mouth and ears for a few moments later.
- Four characters are seen to be hanged by their feet with their throats slit on many different occasions. One character survives, yet later dies. Blood is seen dripping all over their faces.
- A man stands above another man and stabs him. You hear the crunch of bones.
- One character is pushed down the stairs and there is a lot of blood surrounding her, however it isn't gory.
- A group of characters are poisoned and die.
- A woman and two men are fighting each other and the woman hits a man over the head with a pan. There is blood, but he's not dead. The other man then stabs him and he dies.
- A group of men are trying to sexually attack some women. One man kicks one of the women in the face, however her wounds are not dramatic and she is fine.
- A woman gives birth onscreen. You do not see the actual birth, but you do see another character cutting the umbilical cord with blood all over their hands which is very gory and squeamish.
- You see the body of a dead horse for a few seconds after it is killed.
- One character attempts to cut another's head off, however the sword gets stuck. There is a lot of blood, some of which hits another character in the face. The scene is quick and blurry, but noticeable and could cause distress.
- A mentally disabled person is hit with a rock, and is presumed to have died.
- The violence shown isn't very gory or graphic; its the type readily seen in PG-13 movies.
Profanity

- 'Bastard' is most often used, but usually in the literal sense.
- 'Whore' is said a number of times, to describe someone who is not a virgin.
- 'Bitch' and 'ass' are both said infrequently.
- One religion is mocked relentlessly in most episodes, with antisemitic words sometimes used.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

- There is a lot of drinking in all episodes, but typically by background characters.
- Most of the characters are around the ages of 15-20 and drink alcohol, although it is not illegal in the show.Although this is set in France and the French drink wine since children,albeit watered down.
- Many characters are seen drinking from a bottle and wine is often drunk with a meal.
- A lot of characters are poisoned by herbal drugs and die.
Frightening & Intense Scenes

- There are a lot of torture scenes in the entire show.
- There are a some frightening scenes in this show, and its often disturbing and could be considered scary.
- There is a lot of violence, as well as 'thriller' scenes such as someone hiding under a bed and pushing someone down the stairs.
- The show would be intense for young children.
