Actor Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike, Sabotage) is producing a film with his company 359 Inc. about rock legends the Smiths, Pitchfork reports. The film, called Shoplifters of the World, is inspired by Smiths legend of a crazed fan holding a Denver radio station staff hostage demanding the station play only Smiths songs.
The film will take place in 1987, when the band announced their hiatus. Veteran music documentarian Stephen Kijak (Jaco, Backstreet Boys: Show 'Em What You're Made Of) will write and direct the project.

Nick Carter clearly can't keep his hands off his wife, Lauren Kitt! The loved-up duo was at the premiere of the highly anticipated documentary Backstreet Boys: Show 'Em What You're Made Of in Los Angeles last night and they certainly put on quite a show on the red carpet. The Backstreet Boys crooner made several funny faces for the cameras and repeatedly grabbed his leading lady's behind as fans looked on. Kitt, who showed off her killer curves in a gray, skin-tight, cut-out dress, posed proudly as her main man couldn't control his Pda. And after the two were finished getting grabby, they smooched for all to see shortly before stepping foot inside the Arclight...

Lou Pearlman was the boy-band mogul who brought the Backstreet Boys together, but the shady entrepreneur was no mere benefactor. Pearlman drew up contracts that made him the de facto sixth member of the band, and when the boys eventually realized that Pearlman was somehow making far more than the pittance they were given, they sued their creator. It's a contentious relationship explored in the new documentary Backstreet Boys: Show 'Em What You're Made Of, and in this exclusive scene from the film (in theaters and on demand January 30), you can watch as the Backstreet Boys return to Pearlman's estate to reminisce, though the mogul himself is currently locked up until 2029 for engineering a Ponzi scheme. Still, his influence looms large over all five of the Backstreet Boys — just look at the way Nick Carter anxiously chews through his fingernails on the way over.
