Jeff Morrow: Maj. Bart McClelland
Quotes
-
[first lines]
Mrs. Tyson : [in the distance] Henry! Henry!
Major Bart McClelland : [to Charlie] Make sure the men are sitting in the window seats.
Charley : Expecting Indian trouble?
Major Bart McClelland : Rather expect it than be surprised.
Mrs. Tyson : Charlie, have you seen my Henry?
Charley : No I haven't, Miz Tyson.
Mrs. Tyson : He's either lost or hiding, but either way, I'll kill him.
Charley : [to McClelland] He's hiding, all right.
-
[discussing Senator Medford]
Georgia : He'll make trouble.
Major Bart McClelland : Probably.
Georgia : I'm sorry. I think he's bothered by this place being run by a woman...
Major Bart McClelland : It is run by a lady, Georgia
-
Senator Medford : How bad is it?
Major Bart McClelland : Oh, the Indians had to throw an attack on us to feel out our strength. If we pound 'em tonight, they won't bother us for a while.
Senator Medford : I'd like to have a gun.
Major Bart McClelland : Just find shelter and stay out of the way. The men can handle it.
Senator Medford : I know how to use a weapon, McClelland!
Major Bart McClelland : I know you can but you take aim at the darnedest things!
-
Major Bart McClelland : I think that's it. Hold it, men! Cease fire.
Senator Medford : You think they're gone?
Major Bart McClelland : [to Macklin] Collect the guns from the men. It's over.
Senator Medford : But I didn't see a single Indian.
Major Bart McClelland : Usually when you see 'em, it's too late.
-
Georgia : I don't even know how to cry like a woman anymore.
Major Bart McClelland : As I said, I'll correct anyone who doesn't call you a lady - and that includes you, Georgia.
-
Major Bart McClelland : Sir, last night we were attacked by Indians. Every man fought. One was killed, one will lose the use of his arm for life. I refuse to treat these men like boys and tell them what they can do with their free time.
General Dodge : Mm-hmm. Let's go find the Senator.
-
Senator Medford : [proposing a toast] This is to you, Miss Georgia, a true lady of the West - or any other point on the compass.
[Senator Medford downs his glass of whiskey and bursts out coughing]
Senator Medford : What *is* that stuff?
Major Bart McClelland : That's aged whiskey, Senator. It was made in Walker Flats twelve miles away on the day the train brought it here.
[all laugh]
