- Corinne and Malcolm's special bond leads to a discovery that could liven up the game.
- Previously on 'Survivor': The Fans camp was filled with disorder, but a group of four two couples were getting cozy. The Favorites had a clear division, too, with Phillip's alliance calling the shots with the others on the outside looking in. Brandon is vowing to make things miserable. Favorites won immunity and Reynold tried to get Shamar off the island. Sherri recruited Shamar and persuaded her alliance to break up the couples' alliance. Reynold was forced into revealing the hidden immunity idol he'd found. Allie one of the couples was voted out.
Back at Gota camp: Eddie wants to know what happened. Matt was worried about coming back to camp. Reynold tells them all that they aren't friends, but says they need him to win challenges. He says he has his idol and will play it, and he doesn't trust anyone there now, "so, game on." Shamar hears this and confronts Reynold about how "the game just started" because his plan to vote out Shamar didn't work. Laura tells us she wishes Shamar would "do us a favor and just shut up." Michael tells us about Shamar "just yelling at everybody." Laura tells us "the part of Shamar that was fun has completely gone."
The next day, Reynold and Eddie laugh about how they're "in a tight spot now." Reynold admits to us that he was blindsided. Eddie says they're in the minority until Shamar pisses someone else off.
Sherri pulls Shamar aside and urges him to keep his mouth shut. Sherri tells us that the fast-food employees who work for her are "snotty, teenage brats" and that's helping her deal with Shamar. He finally tells her that he's not really into the game any more. He tells us he's disheartened and questioning whether he wants to stay in the game.
Bikal camp: It's a lazy morning and Phillip tells us that at the age of 54, he's having the time of his life. He also tells us he has mad basketball skills.
Corrine tells us that she and Malcolm gravitated toward each other because they are the members of the Favorites tribe who haven't played with someone else before. The pair are out hunting for an idol and find one. Malcolm is happy to "have some power" in his back pocket. He tells us he's not thrilled that Corrine knows he has it and their wagons are hitched together now. They vow to keep it between them.
Phillip is making everyone laugh by putting a basket over his head. Cochran takes a turn. Cochran also tells us how giddy he is to be around "all these beautiful women who are, half the time, just wearing their underwear."
Meanwhile, Corrine and Malcolm are chatting and Andrea notices. She and Cochran discuss this, and Cochran says he isn't sure where Corrine's loyalties are. Andrea tells us she really wants Corrine out. Cochran agrees with her that Corrine and Malcolm "are remarkably close." She wants to bring Brandon in on their alliance. Andrea goes to Phillip and tells him she's concerned. He tells her he's on the same page. Andrea tells us she doesn't want to talk to the wrong person. She goes and talks to Brandon about voting out Corrine. He tells us he doesn't really trust anyone and that if he gets a sense he's going to be voted out "there's going to be hell to pay in camp."
Gota: Shamar tells the tribe that his happiness isn't worth $1 million and says he doesn't "want to be the angry black man on 'Survivor.'" Laura tells him she'd love for him to stay. He tells them about the tough time he had adjusting to life after the military when he returned from Iraq. He was an alcoholic, he says, and goes on to tell us about the dark things he saw there. He says he was trying to be happy on the island, but the attitude he's getting is making him angry again. Sherri is worried he'll regret quitting, if he does. She tells him they'll be down two players if he quits and they have to vote someone else out, as well. He realizes he has to be loyal to them.
Reynold, hearing all this, tells us he had his hopes up that Shamar would quit. Reynold is annoyed that Shamar is making himself seem like a hero "for unquitting" and claiming he's doing it as a sign of loyalty.
Immunity challenge: Both tribes will race into the water to a large bamboo cage. They have to climb into the cage and there is a large chest sitting at its bottom. They have to untie the cage and pull the chest out from its bottom all underwater. They'll drag the chest to shore, place the chest on a track and use a grappling ring to retrieve three pieces of missing track and push their chest to the finish platform. The first tribe wins immunity and reward comfort in the form of chairs, a pillow, a blanket and a tarp.
Michael tries to get pumped for the challenge as it's about to start and tries to give Shamar a "five." Shamar doesn't respond.
Laura has trouble swimming out to the cage and Reynold helps drag her there. Both tribes get to the cages about the same time but are tentative to get to work on the chest. Shamar complains that someone took the goggles and he can't see without them because he has contacts in in his eyes. The Fans open their cage first, followed by the Favorites.
The Fans work well to get their chest toward the shore first, but the Favorites catch up.
Reynold tosses the grappling hook and gets the first section of missing track for the Fans. Malcolm misses his tosses, but Phillip gets the first one for the Favorites. Malcolm gets the second one for the Favorites, who take the lead. Eddie misses for the Favorites but Shamar nails the second one to catch up. With both tribes trying to land their final piece of missing track, Brandon and Eddie are head to head. After some drama, Brandon gets the final piece of track for the Favorites and they move their chest across to win immunity and reward.
Back at Gota camp: Shamar immediately tells Reynold "you're disgusting" and says Reynold took the goggles. Reynold goes off and whispers to Eddie about how childish Shamar is being.
Laura tells Sherri she's nervous that people are going to vote her off because she was so bad in the challenge. She tells us she knows it was "pathetic." She says the vote that night should be Hope because they need Reynold and Eddie in the challenges. She recommends splitting he vote three for Eddie, three for Hope. Sherri agrees and tells Shamar the plan. He's worried he'll get the other three votes.
Hope talks to Shamar, who says he knows what it likes to be on the outs. Hope tells us she doesn't think Reynold will give up his idol. Shamar tells her he won't vote for her. Shamar tells her she could "throw the vote" in the other direction by voting for Eddie.
Hope goes and talks to Julia about what Shamar said. She then goes off to tell Sherri and others that Shamar told Hope the whole plan. Laura is now worried Shamar won't actually vote with them. Laura tells Reynold she can get Julia to vote Shamar. Reynold is totally on board.
Tribal Council: Reynold tells Jeff that after the last Tribal Council, Shamar was screaming, which was "par for the course for him." Shamar says he was just yelling at Reynold. Jeff asks Shamar if he's often misunderstood and he says, "Not this much." Shamar says everyone just lies, and points out Reynold. Shamar says he thinks Reynold is "an evil person" and wants Reynold to leave him alone.
Hope reveals that Shamar told her it was 99 percent certain she was going home. He says she misunderstood.
Matt says he thinks Shamar gets carried away with his attitude and his "personality is kind of just rubbing people the wrong way." Julia says Shamar also yelled at her after the last Tribal Council. Shamar says that was embellished, too.
Sherri says she's "met lots of Shamars" and he rubs people the wrong way.
Jeff then reminds everyone about the "foursome" and asks Hope if she's worried. She says she is, then says that Shamar "brings a lot of negative energy" to the tribe. Eddie says he's also on the "no talking" list, but Shamar says that's only the case because Eddie is a "follower" of Reynold.
Eddie writes down Shamar's name, saying, "Thanks for serving our country good luck." Shamar writes down Eddie's name.
Jeff calls for the idol and no one budges.
The vote: Shamar, Hope, Shamar, Hope, Shamar, Hope, Eddie, Eddie and Eddie. It's a three-way tie and on the revote, players can only vote for Eddie, Hope or Shamar and those three can't vote.
Revote: Shamar, Hope, Hope, Hope and the third person voted out is Hope.
Hope's last words: "I'm really, really disappointed. I definitely think that I should have stayed out here longer. I thought I was a strong player and I feel like I'm leaving before my time. But I will say that this has been an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experience and I feel really grateful for having the opportunity."
