In a parody of "Top Gun", the scene where Maverick and Goose are told they're going to Top Gun is cut into the film then the director is shown pulling videotape out of the edit machine, before it cuts back to "Palm Harbor Vice" with a similar scene in progress.
The Gold Rush (1925)
The character of Big Jim is named from the character of Big Jim in The Gold Rush, but in that film Big Jim is a giant of a man, where in Palm Harbor Vice, he is a young boy.- The character of Chief Haggerty is styled in the manner of dress of Inspector Clouseau and his relationship with the officers is a reference to the relationship between Clouseau and his boss, Chief Inspector Dreyfus.
