The London Action Fest’s weekend events kicked off on Saturday at Picturehouse Central with a screening of Chia-Liang Liu’s phenomenal The Legend of Drunken Master (Aka Drunken Master 2), a highly sought action classic that’s overdue a remastered Blu ray release.
Following this was the first panel event: The World in Action- Celebrating Asian Action Cinema with Joey Ansah, Mike Fury (journalist and author) and Jude Poyer.
The guests talked about what drew them to Asian cinema, citing early exposure to ninja films on VHS, a martial artist Pe teacher, and sneaking into late night screenings of Hong Kong films, in Soho.
A sequence from Sammo Hung’s Dragons Forever, starring Jackie Chan, was then presented, and the panel discussed why the film is so special, citing hand-to-hand combat and frenetic editing. They also talked about how Hong Kong cinema was better than American action films of the time,...

Jay Leno is close to inking a deal for his first permanent post-Tonight Show gig.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Leno is near a deal with CNBC to host a primetime show that will focus on his love of cars. The program would fit right in with the network's latest push "CNBC Prime," which features original shows such as The Profit, The Car Chasers and re-runs of Shark Tank. The new deal would keep him in the NBC Universal family where he's been employed since 1992.

CNBC ordered to series Money Talks which takes viewers inside the world of sports betting and Steve Stevens, a handicapper who runs VIP Sports in Las Vegas. The one-hour pilot will premiere Tuesday, September 10 at 10pm Et/Pt. The network also greenlit the second season of The Car Chasers, one of the first series to launch on the new CNBC Prime. Season two of The Car Chasers premieres Tuesday, October 29 at 10Pm Et/Pt on CNBC. The announcement: “Money Talks” is a docu-soap that follows Steve Stevens, his stable of agents and the clients who risk big dollars in the hope these guys have the expertise to consistently deliver winners. There’s a lot on the line as we follow the gamblers who wager a few thousand each week to the whales who routinely make six-figure bets. “Money Talks” is produced by All3 Media America in association with Turn Left Productions and Lost Tribe Productions.

CNBC’s debut Tuesday into primetime reality shows had its ratings ups and downs with Treasure Detectives and The Car Chasers. The newly minted CNBC Prime premiered both shows this week to kick off the business network’s long planned evening rebrand. Debuting at 9 Pm, the antiquities authenticating Treasure Detectives pulled in 279,000 total viewers and 62,000 in the Adults 25-54 demographic on the channel. That’s a jump from the 195,000 total viewers and 49,000 in the demo that watched the 60 Minutes repeat that sat in the slot last week. However, Car Chasers did not fare as well. The series, which follows classic car dealers Jeff Allen and Perry Barndt as buying and selling exotic vehicles around the country, fell double digits from the encore episode of American Greed that aired at 10 Pm on February 26.
