Season Three Review
southdavid24 June 2023
Once the first season had won me over, I started to really like "The Great North". I am a big "Bobs Burgers" guy, so I thought I'd be in the bag for it, but the first couple of episodes were truth be told, a bit shaky. Since then though it's been a great time.

The Tobin family live in Lone Moose, Alaska. This year the town prepares for their disaster emergency by choosing Moon's (Aparna Nancheria) dinosaur attack scenario. At Christmas the family plot to recapture Skanky, a dancing Christmas tree that Beef (Nick Offerman) hates and traded away years previously. Then a horrible smell reveals a long-buried secret that threatens to destroy the town.

I really think that with this season of "The Great North" the show has levelled up a little bit and is more consistently, and wryly funny that it has been in previous years, even though those previous seasons were pretty good. The art style isn't exactly what you would describe as cutting edge, but it works for the characters here and has done since "Bobs Burgers" started.

The vocal work is great thoigh, last year I singled out Will Forte for the praise for season two, this time I'll praise Dulce Sloan for her work as Honeybee, often, but not always, the rational voice in the Tobin household. Adam Godley guest stars this season, as later does Tom Ellis, as his brother.

I'm looking forward to season three and to seeing what the Molyneux sisters can add to the script for the next "Deadpool" film.
