In this first of a three-part special extra series based in the 'Quality Control Laboratory' at 'Morris Lubricants', Guy Martin and Adrian Hill take a closer look at the 'Mini-Rotary Viscometer' (MRV) to understand why it is such an essential and integral piece of laboratory equipment. The viscometer measures the pumpability of an engine oil at low temperatures. This is an important performance requirement as it ensures effective circulation from cold, helping to reduce wear and ensures that the lubricant is helping to contribute to the overall reduction in engine emissions, including CO2.
