Sing will have you dancing in the aisles while animated critters cover your favorite hits, even if its emotional notes read like the most basic chord progression. Piggies sing Katy Perry while a pinstripe-suit gangter mouse croons his best Sinatra, all so children can enjoy another reenforcing tale about following your dreams. It’s a great message paired with an entertaining premise, all of which are tied together with as much silliness and musical puns as you’d expect. Colin Firth may have a young spy partner in Taron Egerton.
According to Variety, negotiations may begin soon with Egerton to play the young spy next to Firth in the upcoming adaptation of “The Secret Service.”
The site claimed director Matthew Vaughn considered “Kick-Ass” actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, but opted for a lesser known actor to be alongside Firth. Other actors in consideration were Jack O’Connell (“Unbroken”) and John Boyega (“Attack the Block”).
Egerton has a very limited acting history with a couple of episodes in the TV series “Inspector Lewis” and a short film called “Pop.”
Now Vaughn and Twentieth Century Fox will look into the female co-star. The possibilities include Emma Watson (“Harry Potter”) and Bella Heathcote (“Dark Shadows”). Actors Tom Cruise and Leonardo DiCaprio were both offered the villain role, but passed on the role.
“The Secret Service” is a comic series by Mark Millar and David Gibbons.
