The genesis of the film was a marathon with the nine films (at the time) of the "Friday the 13th" series, made by producers Felipe M. Guerra and Eliseu Demari during a week of idleness.
The movie was originally filmed and edited entirely on VHS. Nobody was paid and the only cost was with the tapes and with the material purchased for the practical and improvised special effects.
One of the most popular titles from Brazilian independent cinema. Despite this, the film had a very limited release.
Originally the killer would use a different mask for each murder: a hockey mask, the Ghostface mask, Michael Myers mask, etc. During filming, it was decided to use only the Ghostface costume (from the "Scream" series) because the filmmakers tried to shoot a scene with the hockey mask and found it harder to hide the identity of the killer with it.
The collection with 2000 VHS tapes that appears in the movie belongs to the director Felipe M. Guerra. These tapes were supposed to appear more in some scenes, but they ended up being underused. Later cuts of the film practically erased the collection of tapes from the plot.
