From i feel like she sees me to...
maggiemargaret12317 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Never been seen again. Thank god this plot is finally dealed with and put to a rest. Now if only they would do the same with that awful hardware store flirtation. The actress still can't act. It's a nightmare. I have never witnessed such an untalented actress in a tv show. Edy Ganem couldn't act her way out of a paper bag (and I don't even feel bad saying that since she's transphobic). All she ever does is looking crazy with that weirdo smile and what's up with all that crazy giggling everytime they show her? While i should be thankful that she was barely shown i ask myself why is she even on the show in the first place. I wish she would simply disappear because i don't want to see her at all. Period. Eddie Diaz deserves so much better than this. Anyways i'm counting on the showrunner to make her go away soon as well.

Back to the actual episode I was curious about what the new (old) showrunner changed in comparison to the former two seasons and i'm surprised that the premiere was really more like the old (and loved) 911. It was a solid premiere with lots of small callbacks to the earlier seasons. Thank you for that Tim. I felt entertained, even if the Bobby and Athena conflict felt a little out of character for Athena, but i'm interested to see what was that all about. Chris a player? That was something i definetely did not see coming. I had to laugh so hard. But it was a great way to bring back Shannon. Another great surprise. I loved all the Buddie moments during this episode and i still hope that this season finally is the season where these two are going to figure it out. Sigh....

Tim is back in charge and it SHOWS.
CeeCeeLove2116 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Wow. What a difference a showrunner can make, huh? ABC pulled out all the stops to actually promote the show and cast, and Tim delivered on the promise of bringing the show back to life. The whole vibe felt like home again, and it's PALPABLE in every scene that these main characters are the heart and driving force of the show, NOT the emergencies or side characters. Those are there to facilitate the main character's plot points, a fact that has been sorely lacking while Kristen was at the helm, from pointless drawn out emergencies to weird focus on side character, many episodes left very little time for the actual main characters. There was a whole lot of "telling" and not a lot of "showing" this group be a family, but this episode really brought back the "firefam" feel, and we haven't even gotten everyone together at work yet!

The set up for this cruise emergency is so fun, and sure to bring the dramatic tension this show is known for, and it was neat seeing some familiar faces for Bobby and Athena to run into, that also brought the sense of humor this show is known for. The whole episode had me laughing out loud with moments that were funny, but not hollow, and moments that were truly touching. It was wonderful to see Maddie and Chimney having some more lighthearted struggle without undermining their real fears. Chim was such a steady presence for Maddie in season 2 and now she is getting to be that for him. I can't wait for the wedding shenanigans!

We can't end though without talking about the Buddie elephant in the room. First, Tim spoke for the audience when he wrote Buck asking what he was even thinking dating a death doula. I respect him walking in and shutting that nonsense down. We all knew it was a bad fit from the get-go and I'm glad it didn't take up a second more time that it needed to. Tim was right, they had better things to do with the episode. If only the same treatment was given to the other pointless, lackluster, shoehorned love interest Marisol. Not only is the actress transphobic, she also...can't act. Her constant manic smile was terrifying and even her couple of seconds were so awkward as to be unbearable. We all know Ryan can ACT, so constantly trapping Eddie with these terrible actresses and recycled plot lines is getting tiresome. Even aside from that though, the episode went out of it's way to put Buck firmly (and literally) in the space Shannon occupied (but in a smoother, more easy fit than she ever did). Which brings up the question, how can the show possibly introduce any kind of viable partner for either of them when they are already occupying that space in each other's lives? No matter what Tim has planned, it was good to see them being friends again ON SCREEN instead of being told they're friends and barely seeing them interact. I do hope we get more from Chris on this though, as seeing him and Eddie (and Buck!) navigate his abandonment issues and his anger now that he's old enough to fully understand what happened could be an interesting arc!

Overall, a SOLID and very promising start to the season with much to look forward with in this big emergency. Let's hope the show can keep the momentum up!

ABC is the Best Thing to Happen to This Show!!
kmt03010-476-25686415 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
ABC is the best thing that has ever happened to this show! Everything about this premiere was incredible! The camera work is better, the acting was amazing, the storylines and calls are sooo good so far!

I absolutely love the Buck and Eddie banter. It was nice to see that again! Their relationship and their family with Christopher is my favorite part of the show.

Christopher's scene with Shannon made me cry, I loved that cameo! I literally screamed when I saw her!

I'm on the edge of my seat with Bobby and Athena's storyline! I can't wait to see what happens next! I also really hope they communicate with each other after all of this is over too.

Chimney and Maddie are so adorable as always! I'm so excited for their wedding!!

I can't wait to see what's in store for Hen and Karen!! I really hope they get to adopt that baby girl!

Thank you for saving our show and making it better ABC! I can't wait to see what you have it store for us!

thank you abc!!

Abc taking over this show feels like the best thing that could've happened. The new episode felt refreshing and gave me Season 1 vibes from the start. Love that we're getting more Buck and Eddie moments again and are seeing more of their relationship with Christopher. Also love the storyline that we're getting between Bobby and Athena that goes a bit deeper into their relationship. Really hoping that we're getting more of characters that were missing this episode like Karen, May and Ravi but this felt like a great start into the newest season and I'm very excited to see where we're going with this.

So refreshing!
vanmeter0215 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I loved this episode! It was the perfect reintroduction to the characters. I 100% relate to Athena. A movie gave me second-hand trauma and cruise ships are now a big no for me. It was nice seeing Captain Hen, while Bobby was taking a much needed break!

I also laughed a lot. The banter between Buck and Eddie was fantastic. I adore their scenes together. Showing Eddie's growth with him being able to admit he had panic attacks was brilliant. I really enjoyed the added touch of Shannon "being there" when Chris was reading his letter too. <3 I got a little bit emotional to be honest.

Lastly, Chim and his ideas for keeping their romance alive was both heartwarming and hysterical! Can't believe his solution was a hot tub tho-after THAT call. Haha!

Seriously loved it!

Buck and Eddie should become a couple
sihamhadef15 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Amazing ep, what I loved most is buck and Eddie's scenes . Seriously they really need to become a couple. I also loved how they addressed Chris's trauma. Amazing episode . I can't wait to see what's going to happen next . Amazing show, amazing actors and great performances. Again I must keep talking about Eddie and Buck's scenes. Thank god Natalia is gone . Now we need Marisol out . Buck and Eddie will never be shipped with women, simply because what they have with each other they will never have that with any other woman . Also it's the seventh season , there is no way the fans will accept any new love intrests for them . The only solution is to put them together and give the fans what they want .

Please get rid of serial killer Marisol
Jocelyn7217 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
At least that's the vibe i get from this character, because all she ever does is giggling in combination with that total crazy smile. What a horror show, even for only two seconds. That actress scares me, because she doesn't get any lines (because she obviously is to bad to deliver them) but yet again she is still there? Why? Somebody please call 911 and save Eddie from this nut job. A shame that this transphobic and untalented actress is still allowed to wor on that LGBTQ friendly show.

Now to more positive thing: Tim Minear is back in control and the quality of this show is immediately better. All characters were able to shine, the emergencies were fast and interesting without taking up an entire episode. Lots of Eddie Diaz is always a good thing, Chris a womanizer? I don't know if i like this to be honest, but we got some interesting scenes from it. Buck and Eddie always are great to watch together. Finally they were allowed to interact again. Just make them a couple already, Tim. That's what everyone wants.

May and Ravi were cleary missed, but i hope we are going to see them soon as well.

Oh yes and Natalia is gone as well. Hurray....she won't be missed at all.

Great start!
tdrvvqzs16 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I've been watching 911 for the past couple years and have to say first and foremost this is my most favorite TV show of all time! I love the action, drama, and family scenes they include throughout the episodes especially with all the character development in each character that is well done. This episode was such a refresher and felt like the old 911 I was used to before 6B. For those who seemed disappointed, keep in mind the premier is a 2 or 3 episode part I believe so stay at the edge of your seat! I love the Eddie and Buck dynamic that is growing and having Christopher (played by Gavin) have his out plot and making his main character status and getting to see how he'll grow as a teenager. Also with Bobby and Athena, I don't really remember them having many marriage problems before so I am excited about seeing where it goes and how they'll persevere. One other note, I'm SO GLAD Buck and Natalia broke up, honestly it felt way to inorganic and forced last season and literally last minute, like Buck everyone (the audience) said dating a death doula would be a bad idea!

Choppy first episode
kaija_mor15 March 2024
What was this?????

This show has had great season openers and the cast is usually fantastic, has great chemistry and work so well together.

So I'm really shocked how this was such a letdown of a premier. Perhaps it's just the move to the new network messing with the vibe of the show, but this was the most boring and lacklustre opening episode so far in the entire series. It seriously lacked a sense of a flow between the scenes and characters, even Buck and Eddie's storyline didn't save it. Hoping it picks up in episode 2 and finds its footing again and goes back to being the show that it was.

GREAT FIRST EPISODE
selfcheck-7741816 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
At first i'll be honest, felt a bit uneasy and overwhelmed seeing the difference in the writing, character relationships and just overall changes. BUT after finishing the episode i can proudly say that ABC has changed the show for the better, which when picking up a canceled show is very very rare. TBH i know a lot of people are going to be upset about buck breaking up with his gf off screen, he deserves to be happy with someone. But i'm happy they ended the relationship, even when she first came onto the show, red flags for me were popping up left right and centre and it was for the exact reason buck broke up with her. The death obsession and only being obsessed with him for his experience with it was a real big personality flaw. The character just seemed to be chucked in last minute to make the show seem interesting and add some romance into bucks life. The whole relationship seemed like a failed plot line RIGHT from the start, so i'm happy the writers decided to drop that. He deserves to be happy AND I MEAN really happy, not a carelessly written "romance" that happened in the spam of a couple poorly written episodes.

Buck/Natalie
frankma-2754115 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Off-screen breakup for Natalie and Buck! Who would've thought. "Don't know why I thought it was a good idea dating a death doula" Whaaaattt??? It's a bad idea??? Who would have thought! No seriously what were the writers thinking?? Why do they always try pairing up Buck and Eddie with the most random female characters? They are such major characters but they're always the ones who start dating random characters you don't care about. We love Bobby and Athena because when they got together they were already established characters we cared about! Same thing with Chimney and Maddie! Buck and Eddie's girlfriends are always just that, their girlfriends. Nothing more.

The only girlfriend Buck ever had that we got to know as a proper character before becoming a love interest was Abby. In season ONE. I'd rather they'd not date at all over them rushing into relationships with random women they come across. What's wrong with a slowburn? Where's the romance? Why am I supposed to root for a couple where one part of it is a stranger? How hard could it be to introduce a new more major character and have their relationship develope over a longer time?

Honestly i wish the writers would stop trying. Not all characters need to be dating someone, let them stay single especially if the writers don't know how to give them good romance storylines😒

What was that?
qxrxscq19 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I've been hooked on this show from the beginning and this was the worst episode yet. It was choppy, awkward, and honestly boring. I'm hoping it gets better but this was not a good start to the season. I ended up pausing it a lot because I couldn't get into it. It was such a struggle to get through it.

The parts that involved the station back in LA was good but still felt off. Athena and Bobby on the cruise ship was just not them. Their chemistry isn't there like prior seasons and it felt like a newbie writer that had no knowledge of the show. The series of events just feel weird and non believable to real world experiences especially when cruising.

ABC Does a Body Good
brycelwynn16 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
As a huge fan of this show, the last few seasons have been a mixed bag for me. Season 5, overall, felt so disjointed and last season was an approvement but it was a far cry from the earlier seasons. With 9-1-1 now on ABC, things feel fresh again. I really enjoyed this episode and playing catch up with all my favorite characters. The show feels wittier as well. The scene where Athena is meeting with Frank the counselor and she talks about Shelley Winters losing the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award made me audibly guffaw. It was an allusion to Angela Bassett losing the same award last year. Overall, I am excited to see where things go this season and with the change from FOX to ABC, I feel like the show is in more than capable hands.

Would have been a 10 if Maridull was gone too!
JMadems15 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Mega thanks to Tim Minear for coming home!! God they needed you! Please revoke KRs privileges to the writers room. She ruined 2+ seasons of this show. Thanks to ABC for stepping in. This show was circling the drain last season, especially 6.18.

Tim- thank you for the most endearing scene in 6+ years - Hearing & seeing Shannon read the letter to Chris - what a genius move. The sound of her voice was everything for Chris & the rest of us. He could hear her voice again! Love Gavin - he's such a huge part of your show.

Thank you for dropping Natalia - didn't need to see more conflict for Buck to breakup during this episode. But whatever possessed you to keep the giggling twit around??? I knew she was on set but was hoping it was for a short "so long." Writers didn't do her any favors last season and I don't think that actress could do anything with good material- she's plays every part the same way - badly! Go find commercials - please! I'm beginning to think Eddie's Tia was not bad in picking dates after all.

Eddie's portrayal shows a very stable person now so let him enjoy that before saddling him with this person who hasn't realized she's not a teenager anymore! Loved the fact that dead Shannon had more screen time than Maridull!!

Eddie & Bucks scenes - again- thank you Tim! Getting back to what made this show so great in the first 3 seasons. More!!!

Poor Bobby - shades of when he showed Athena the door a few seasons ago - Gotta admit wasn't liking Athena there for a minute but this catastrophe is just what they needed. And again - kudos to the writers when Bobby spotted non- Lola! Priceless! This ship tragedy is going to be extraordinary- especially the photography - go Joaquin & crew!!!

Maddie & Chim were back!! Missed them so much! Can't wait for the Bachelor party & wedding. I know they're going to be great with all kinds of slip ups.

New writers with the senior ones are hitting it out of the park with finding the flavor of what got you this far. Please - continue. That Rom-com feel is so welcome again!!

The new scenes reflecting past material - bomb, Eddie in the locker room, Josh & Maddie, genius!

Love Hen taking charge.

Again- thank you Tim - almost perfect. Looking forward to when it really is perfect! You can do it!!

Buck
ttheusuall16 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I have a few words on Buck and Natalia's breakup. What was THAT? "She only talked about death, death, death. It was boring." Seriously? Sounds like poor/lazy writing. Even if they break up off-screen. Even if the reason for the breakup is her being a death doula. They could've phrased it differently. Especially if you remember what Buck said about her in s6 that he feels like she sees him. He knew who she was. So they could've just said Buck was still affected by his death when they started dating, but now he moved on and things changed. Remember when they brought Abby back in the s3 finale to give their story closure or when they gave Buck and Ali an emotional scene in the s2 finale? But this time it was not good writing. Felt rushed, like they just got rid of her not bothering to come up with a good explanation. It was kind of out of character for Buck. Remember, Abby ghosted him, Ali left him after the injury, Taylor betrayed him and he never said a bad thing about his girlfriends. Eddie turning to Buck for advice/help with Christopher on the other hand was interesting because Buck really has experience with women, he dated a lot. Also the parallel with Buck who always felt like he was left behind and now Christopher saying about the girls that they'd leave anyway. Although for Christopher it's because his mom left. It was a good decision to bring Shannon back and read the letter so Christopher can make peace. And it's about time to give Buck a permanent girlfriend, especially since this season he's supposed to be on his path to happiness, and NOT experiment/mess up his storyline.

A great start to the season!
elysiumnotes12 April 2024
What an episode! ABC really breathed new life to this show that made me excited to watch it again. It really felt like I was watching the show for the first time again but kept to the core of these characters. The writing was tighter and the camera work was phenomenal as it really helped with the subtext of the scenes.

Then we get to character stuff like Captain Hen being a decisive and competent leader and just all around best friend. Madney being a lovely couple even with Chim's misguided intentions to keep the relationship fresh. I also need Bathena to stay intact; they are soulmates and I know Athena just needs some reassurances. See Bobby trying to reach out is something I'm excited to see in the next 2 episodes. But I do love their crime-fighting duo status.

And last but not least, Buddie. They are quite literally co-parenting Chris together. Banter between the two flows so easily and we had more scenes of them together in this one episode then we did of all of s6. It truly felt like something has shifted there, and that may be the delusion talking, but I can't wait to see the rest of the season.

Meh...
morkoff15 March 2024
For all its flaws I loved first season. Second and third seasons had their ups and downs, but were generally enjoyable. From there on... well I stayed from habbit, and because I liked most characters. The show went bad the moment it decided to become a soap opera, and sadly with this opening, it looks like it continues to be so.

I dislike throwaway characters, ones that instead of being real characters serve only for either plot devices, gimini crickets, fillers, etc. But the story has no need of them. Eddie is such character, and has been one since his wife died. Outside of his son and Buck, for 6 seasons he has zero connection to either other character, his solo stories are forced here and there but with no real connection to any plot. And from the looks of it, he still doesn't. Chris has way more personality and involvement than him. Athena's son had. Even Hen's kid. And they have had way less screentime. Yes Eddie is an eye candy, I am not blind, and he is fan favourite but mostly he is just useless from purely writing perspective.

Not sure how the season will continue but so far - meh.
