New Girl Chicago

Warning: Spoilers
Nick is my favourite character on the show and while I was not impressed by the appearance of his father Walt I believe seeing more of his family was a much better use of the craziness of the Miller family which lead to the man Nick is today. From minute one I found the Miller family funny. Margo Martindale is so good at comedy that all her scenes worked so well especially her reactions to Jess who came to save the day at the end. Nick's brother played by Nick Kroll also had some funny moments. Jake Johnson is not even worth talking about for how great he is on the show and his eulogy for his father was sweet. Winston and Schmidt as a pair are growing on me as their scenes together this week were quite funny. I will admit I was a bit underwhelmed by Jess as Elvis even though it was funny it could have been funnier. The Miller family are one of the best families I've seen on TV this season and made for another impressive episode from Fox's funniest comedy New Girl.

EPISODE GRADE: A- (MVP: Jake Johnson)

Hard to Imagine How Awful This Show Has Become.

I actually enjoyed season one of New Girl. However the last four episodes have been quite abysmal There is no longer any character to these characters. Lifeless. Forced. Juvenile. Un-engaging. I'm surprised how shrill the tone of the show has become. Any attempts to add some human dimension to these characters has been replaced with simplistic quirks that are supposed to be endearing. The scenes in Chicago are clumsy. I can't figure out what's sabotaging this series more - the writing or the direction. Is anyone looking at this material and saying "Great, that's great". Comedy without laughs - is there anything sadder?

It's off the PVR schedule now. Gone forever. The fall from grace is complete.

Zooey has a new She and Him CD coming out soon. At least that's something I'm looking forward to.

Unstable characters

Things they did and said were forced and became not funny. One episode they were ok, then another they seemed to unreasonably unable to control themselves. I even think that there are a bunch of psychos living together and forgot to take their medicines from time to time.
