Scandal: Seventy Fifty Two
Scarecrow-8828 June 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Huck is a tortured mess after being locked up in a trunk, and this episode shows how he was a soldier basically shanghaied into becoming a killer for a top government covert team. He had a wife and child, it is unveiled. At first he could kill and return to his family but eventually his superiors wanted him to abandon his wife and child. As Olivia recuperates in the hospital, and the PotUS remains close by, eventually telling her he still loved her (encouraging the passion briefly before Olivia says no and he leaves home). Mellie has had enough, and she informs Fitz she's leaving him. He is to either choose Olivia or his family; she will tell the world he's an adulterer if he sees Liv any longer. Meanwhile members of Liv's team try to figure out how to snap Huck out of his stupor, as he sits in a corner and rocks back and forth saying, "7:52." What is the significance? Having a family taken away, left in a pit until he must acknowledge they don't exist to the covert group's suit, Huck is left for months to rot away. The cruelty that has been exacted upon Huck just makes you ache for the guy...no one deserves what he's been through. It is heartbreaking seeing Huck weep to Liv, wondering if his family ever existed. Jake Ballard's boss was actually head of the covert group that trained and tormented Huck. Huck was considered terminated thanks to his colleague who lied on his behalf. A marvelous moment shared between Huck and Olivia conveys what they mean to each other...they are family. Cy will stop at nothing to find out what Jake is due to his closeness with Fitz. Cy's covert guy actually worked for Jake's boss is an interesting wrinkle in the ongoing storyline regarding how all these characters tie in.
