It truly looks like a western, although it was made in the South of France, in natural settings. The director shows here his genuine gift in film making. The story is not understandable at first sight. It has already been told above, but keeps the audience interested in. I like the horseman's character. I often see this actor in many french crime flicks. He has the perfect heavy face. He would terrify a bunch of special forces members only with his eyes... A really bloody, brutal tale indeed. But unfortunately all is not fully explained. I guess there is nothing to be explained, just watch and appreciate. A very downbeat tale.
