The Trademark Raj Chakraborty!
SoumikBanerjee199614 August 2023
Whilst the core subject is delicate and puts forth a real-world problem, the execution is unabashedly mainstream. With exaggerated action scenes and crassly comedic elements, it undeniably falls into hardcore commercial space. Albeit, that was to be expected, given the main guy behind the camera is none other than Raj Chakraborty, a name which has been synonymous with Bengali mainstream territory for the past decade.

Now I did not mind the over-the-top, balls-to-the-walls treatment; matter of fact, I enjoyed myself in a couple of sequences (particularly when Animesh Dutta kicked people's arses). However, I did want it to tone down on the glitz and be a little bit grounded, but it was not meant to be. The makers had a precise vision about how they wanted to approach this story, and they stuck to their objectives. And I see nothing wrong with that.

That said, I did have some gripes about the writing, and it has more to do with the factor of predictability rather than the main plot points. None of the twists or final revelations surprised me because I could predict them from a mile away. I quickly figured out what would happen and who would be the primary culprit, I knew it all, and that spoiled my experience.

Proloy's Legacy Solidified! A Comeback That Never Was, Never Is, and Never Will Be!
shuvachowdhury072621 August 2023
While watching this series, you might find that nearly everything seems right, yet leaves you unsatisfied. It's a puzzle of sorts, where something crucial seems to be missing, and the feeling lingers. Firstly, Saswata Chatterjee's appearance might disappoint. He seemed to be at his best in the prequel "Proloy," and even in movies he played the role of "Shabar Dashgupta." However, here, he appears aged and bulky, no longer fitting the role of Animesh Dutta perfectly. Many, including myself, have revisited the short clips from the "Proloy" movie countless times on platforms like Facebook and YouTube. Those moments still captivate us, pulling us back for repeated viewings. Regrettably, that same fire is noticeably absent in "Abar Proloy". Despite its attempts, the series struggles to rekindle the brilliance of the original "Proloy."

Moreover, the suspense that was once a hallmark is now lacking. The predictability starts right from the beginning, leaving no room for any genuine intrigue. For all its efforts, it fails to ensnare the audience's curiosity. On a positive note, I'm awarding it a 6-star rating for the extended screen time of the top stars of the Bengal Film Industry. Saswata Chatterjee, Paran Banerjee, and Ritwik Chakraborty continue to shine, making their presence enjoyable day after day. The ensemble cast includes other accomplished artists as well, yet the series falls short of harnessing even half of their potential.

The Screenplay And The Background Score Will Make You Watch The Entire Series.
rajmakoley12 August 2023
'Abar Proloy' is a Crime Thriller series. This series based on 2013's bengali film 'Proloy'. If you haven't seen the film, that doesn't mean you can't understand this series. But looking at it may help you understand better.

Story, Screenplay and Direction by Raj Chakraborty. This is his first web series and he also hit the six. Separately talk about screenplay. The screenplay alone will make you watch the entire series. But the last episode could have been better. The unique background score have in this series. That sets it apart from the rest of the series.

Talking about performances, Saswata Chatterjee (Animesh Dutta), Ritwik Chakroborty (Shombhu Baba, Haru), Gourav Chakraborty (Kanu), Koushani Mukherjee (Mohini Ma, Moni) are the Lead Characters in this series. Saswata Chatterjee's acting is awesome. He has once again proved his acting skill. Ritwik Chakroborty's acting good as always. Gourav Chakraborty and Koushani Mukherjee acted in a fluent manner. The Supporting actors, Paran Bandopadhyay (Binod Bihari), Sohini Sengupta (Madhabi), June Malia (Indrani), Debasish Mondal (Bitan Mondal), Loknath Dey (Poritosh Sarkar), Sayoni Ghosh (Sampa) and others portray their character very well. However, the Young Actors (Hujja Members, teen Kanu, teen Haru, teen Moni and others) deserves a special mention for their strong performances.

Abar Proloy is Fire 🔥
shpndipu20 August 2023
In the adrenaline-fueled realm of action web series, one production stands as a shining exemplar of the genre. This remarkable series delivers a pulse-pounding experience that leaves viewers breathless, episode after episode. Without revealing its title, let's dive into the reasons why this action-packed spectacle deserves every accolade it receives.

Action is the lifeblood of this series, and it courses through its veins with unmatched intensity. From the very first frame to the heart-pounding climax, each moment is a testament to the dedication of the stunt and action choreography teams. The fight sequences are nothing short of breathtaking, seamlessly blending martial arts, gunplay, and vehicular mayhem into a symphony of destruction. The precision and timing of these scenes are nothing short of masterful.

But what truly elevates this series is its commitment to storytelling within the action. While many action series may sacrifice plot for explosions, this show strikes the perfect balance. Every bone-crushing punch, every explosive gunfight, serves to advance the narrative and develop the characters. The action is not a distraction; it is an integral part of the storytelling, making each high-octane moment all the more impactful.

Speaking of characters, this series boasts a cast that brings depth and complexity to their roles. The protagonist, a charismatic figure whose name we won't reveal, is a captivating enigma. Their moral ambiguity and razor-sharp wit keep viewers guessing, while their unwavering determination to achieve their goals makes them impossible not to root for. Surrounding this central character are a diverse ensemble of allies and adversaries, each with their own motivations and secrets. The character dynamics are as explosive as the action scenes, creating a rich tapestry of alliances and betrayals.

The production values of this series are nothing short of extraordinary. The cinematography is a visual feast, with breathtaking camera work that captures every punch, every explosion, and every heart-pounding chase with cinematic finesse. The series' location scouting is equally commendable, taking viewers on a globetrotting adventure through exotic locales that add depth to the narrative.

Sound design is often an unsung hero in action series, but not here. The thunderous roar of gunfire, the screech of tires in high-speed pursuits, and the bone-crunching impact of hand-to-hand combat are all expertly crafted to immerse the audience in the heart of the action. The series' musical score, a pulse-pounding symphony of orchestration and electronic beats, heightens the tension and excitement of each scene.

One of the most remarkable aspects of this series is its ability to reinvent itself with each season. Rather than relying on tired tropes and repetitive formulae, it continually evolves, introducing new story arcs and challenges that keep viewers eagerly anticipating what comes next. This willingness to take creative risks and push the boundaries of the genre is a testament to the creators' commitment to delivering a fresh and engaging experience.

Let's not forget the series' dedication to authenticity. While some action series might rely on CGI and green screens, this production prides itself on practical effects and real stunts. The result is action that feels tangible, gritty, and genuinely dangerous. It's a rare treat in the age of digital effects, and it sets this series apart from the competition.

In summary, this action web series is a tour de force that has redefined the genre. It's a high-octane thrill ride that never lets up, delivering a masterclass in action choreography and storytelling. With a captivating cast, top-notch production values, and a commitment to authenticity, it's a must-watch for anyone who craves heart-pounding excitement and a plot that keeps them guessing until the very end. This series has set the bar high for action on the small screen, and it's a title that deserves every accolade it receives.

Not a good one..just a shadow of the original Proloy
deepmukherjee-4534115 August 2023
Very much predictable from the beginning...inconsistent direction...Ritwik looks copied from Sacred Games 2...it's not a worth watching...And Raj Chakraborty does not belong to that level who can deliver a crime thriller in top notch level..lot to learn for Bengali film industry directors , how to direct a web series, story making...Saswata and Ritwik made a big mistake, actors of their calibre by doing such creepy web series that does not make any sense..Unnecessary slangs used in this series which was prominently used in older Proloy..and what is the purpose of doing nudity of those boys..lots to learn for Raj Chakraborty.

Abar Proloy: A Crime Thriller That Grips You From The Start.
yashhraaj20 August 2023
Abar Proloy is a crime thriller series that follows the story of Animesh Dutta, a rogue Special Crime Branch officer who is sent to the Sundarbans to bust a women trafficking racket. The series is based on the 2013 Bengali film Proloy, and it is directed by Raj Chakraborty, who makes his web series debut with this project.

The screenplay is strong in the initial five episodes, as it does a good job of setting up the characters and the mystery. However, the series starts to lose steam in the later episodes, as the plot becomes increasingly predictable. The background score is excellent, and it helps to create a suspenseful and atmospheric tone.

The performances are all great, with Saswata Chatterjee giving a standout performance as Animesh Dutta. Ritwik Chakroborty, Gourav Chakraborty, and Koushani Mukherjee are also all excellent in their respective roles. The supporting actors are also very good, and they all help to bring the story to life.

The series does a good job of exploring the dark side of the Sundarbans, and it shows how the region can be a dangerous place for women and children. The series also touches on the issue of human trafficking, and it shows how this crime can have a devastating impact on its victims. The characters in the series are all well-developed, and they are all believable and relatable. The series is suspenseful and atmospheric, and it will keep you guessing.

One of the things that makes Abar Proloy stand out is its focus on the young actors. The gang members, who are a group of teenage boys who are forced into a life of crime, are all very memorable, and their performances are both heartbreaking and inspiring. The teenage versions of Kanu, Haru, and Moni are also very well-acted, and they help to add a sense of innocence and hope to the story.

Abar Proloy is a solid crime thriller series with some great performances. However, the predictability of the plot and the slow pacing in the later episodes prevent it from being truly outstanding. Still, it is worth a watch for fans of the genre.

bishalr-7640815 August 2023
Original proloy was legend,, the dialogues was extraordinary in the film,, like 'ro ta po hoye jete pare' , 'balta,, thik kore nis' , toke dekhlei kemon bal bal mone hoy, age vabntam vul korchi,, kintu akhon dekhchi j na thik e korchi, etc,,,, but in this one does not deliver no one dialogues like those,, totally rubbish,,,, expected a verry good one,, I think every one want to watch a similer style of proloy, where Animesh Dutta was total on his style,, this one deliver many slangs ,, but every slangs doesnot deliver goosbumps,,,, if this is the second part of proloy then I think we do not need this one,,, if makers think to make a next part of this, then makers should think many time about it,, bcz after watching abar proloy,, I am not interested anymore to watch the next part...

One of the finest series of Bengali Entertainment Industry
Dips31052 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
One of the finest series of Bengali Industry as well in Saswata Chatterjee's career. The best creation of Raj Chakraborty. No can think about the character which Saswata Chatterjee has played and he has certainly justified with his character by his acting skills and dialogue delivery. The character Saswata Chatterjee has portrayed in this age proves that age is just a no in any field. Of one has the calibre and potential then great things can be delivered at any time. The other actors has also played their part beautifully. The technicians also did a great job starting from the camera work, VFX.

Irritating!
games-2049318 August 2023
Lots of loopholes (expected I guess), cliched dialogues and absolutely similar fight sequences with people spinning around. After a couple of episodes, it just drags on. Thank god for the fast forward feature!

Paran could have had a much bigger role given his characters capabilities as seen in the previous Proloy. That would have made the storyline more interesting.

The side character actors have done well. But Saswata looks really old, out of shape and tired. If he has to play an action oriented hero, he should put in some effort to look the part.

This is a miserable attempt to cash in on the earlier Proloy which was really good.

Big big star make a garbage.
shamimauranggazeb13 August 2023
What a garbage! Abar Proloy.

So many big stars and actors to make such nonsense? Raj & Shubhashree! It was a beautiful story but what his presentation! Boys in the neighborhood do better than this on Tik Tok. The camera works well, taking the shots once, placing them as they came into the camera. The dialogues are like a trip to the neighborhood! The scenes are not right. The worst decision of Shvashat's life is acting in this series. The situation is completely in the hands of the director. Say, did not check once before the release? My time was rather wasted! Time was wasted watching Shvastara's performance. It's incredible. Please do not watch this series. At least save yourself time.

Annoying as hell!
hellofihad15 August 2023
The story had some beautiful elements, but they were not utilized very well. The presentation was so bad that it was annoying every moment. There were a lot of plot holes, the twists were predictable and the poor direction ruined a nice mystery. The characters did not act or decide as a normal person would in the situation, giving the audience frustration and intolerance for the weak writing.

The most annoying plot hole was, not being able to catch the Hujja gang even after knowing Rubel's identity and address! Come on writer! If they investigated who Rubel hung out with everyday, you would have caught the whole Hujja gang! What was the point of dragging it till the end! And Paran Bandopadhyay was forced into the story, there was no reason for him to be there.

The scenes could have been more logical and instead of making a ten episode web series, the story could have easily fit into a movie. In short, Abar Proloy is a waste of a good concept and Saswata Chatterjee's brilliant acting.

Rubbish
anibose18 August 2023
Rubbish in the name of cinema. Haphazard story, abusive language, poor direction. Though actors are well known they have been presented in comical unrealistic way. The standard of Bengali movies have drastically deteriorated. Above all a good storyline is missing. Except for Saswata Chatterjee none have been given scope of acting. Overall it reflects the cultural degradation of Bengal. Photography and music is not up to any standard. The director should concentrate on other activities than making craps like this. If they refrain from making movies chances of better movies can see the light. Don't see the rubbish.

Total trash
shaonwrites3 September 2023
Mr. Raj Chakraborty u shud set ur priorities right. Either you nurture ur political ambitions or concentrate on your craft. Casting an actor like Saswata as a southi action hero who can toss the villain into a sommersalt with just a punch just does not work for Bengali audience. Frankly I didn't intend to watch it but my father is an ardent fan of the Proloy franchise, so just watched 2 episodes. And I gave up then and there. And what did you think when playing that Good bad and ugly theme in the background. That its going to give ur series those wild west vibes. Boss, it simply didn't work. Further, the obscenity laden script made ur trash even trashier.
