This episode started out as one thing then completely switched to focus on cryonics. It did so in an exceedingly misleading way. Out of everyone they could have picked to include, they choose one person with an odd interest in a TV and a staff member who had done something in his teens that the video maker knew would be shocking -- even though quite a few teens are doing the same thing these days.
No mention of the science that was covered at the conference. It showed eminent scientist George Church who was a speaker but didn't say who he way (and they surely did not get permission to film him). This incredibly distorted episode will only reinforce the erroneous views of people who know nothing about cryonics and the science it's based on.
Alcor has been in operation for over 50 years (and the Cryonics Institute for 47 years). During that time, the science and practice has continued to advance. Millions of people are walking around who were cryopreserved as embryos, sometimes for many years. Just recently, a paper was published showing repeated success in rewarming cryopreserved rat kidneys and transplanting them successfully. Revival of any human being is decades away, but the evidence shows good brain preservation when done under reasonable conditions. Anyone taking about the brain dying after a few minutes shows their ignorance of the subject.
