I don't understand the hate
ihsifatbd5 October 2023
I really don't understand some people's hate about show. Don't expect it too much like the "The Boys". That's all I can say for now. I am actually liking it so far.

I have some issues for example the main lead is currently making all sorts of wrong decision so I am not that much rooting for her really. Hopefully she will gain some momentum in the upcoming episodes.

Just want to advice to the audience to watch this by not comparing with the boys. The boys had completely different scenario than this where they were basically teaming up against the seven. Meanwhile, its more sort of placed in a institution.

The Brinkening

People need to CHILL😂So many folks on IMDb act like something is the worst, most undercooked show in the world just because it's a spin-off or because it isn't "as good" as the first series/movie.

I was never going to watch this expecting the show to be as good as The Boys either, but I can't deny the talent that's still on display, and I think the actors are genuinely doing a great job. Patrick Schwarzenegger is actually excellent too!

I find it fascinating that none of the main supes are actually terrible people (so far anyway). Where The Boys was sort of a realistic depiction of a corporate-ran superhero squad (full of either angry or terrible people) that satirized the celebrities, politics and societal influence of superheroes, this series moreso satirizes the younger side of society. People doing stupid/mean things for social media views, self-harm, LGBTQIA+ struggles, and also some other things from The Boys like A-class manipulation and using someone as a pawn or object instead of accepting them as a person.

And I so far think that's actually where the show shines. I personally think they're doing pretty well with Marie and Emma's characters. I'd be curious to hear what other people who have self-harmed think of these two and how the show approaches that real-life struggle, but I think it's harrowing here yet believable and not at all out of poor taste.

And Jordan's scene with their parents was also nicely done!

As far as violence and action goes, this episode had a couple of great moments I didn't see coming. The violence and visceral tone feel very in-line with The Boys.

Also, really good cliffhanger. I'm digging this show so far!

S1.E3 - Slowly Getting Better [7.6/10]

Warning: Spoilers
(S1. E3) My Reaction / Review for Gen V Season 1 Episode 3 ''#ThinkBrink''. Episode 2 was good and I gave it a rating of 7/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Andre and Cate kiss and have sex? I saw that coming. Emma seems to be sad lately, I kinda feel bad for her. The whole thing with Jordan and his parents is so weird, like after all these years they cant accept the fact that he can be a woman now and a guy later? They are to blame for that, they gave him-her compound V! I like the VFX for when Emma gets tiny, looks really good. Andre's dad knows about the underground place where they do illegal experiments? Is he part of it? Overall this episode was fun and entertaining, better than the previous two episodes. My rating is 7.6/10.

Fresh air

Great episode. Def fresh air among other shows. Emma is such a good character. Hope that she and Luke will become something bigger. The scene at the end is something, well, what could you expect from 'the Boys' universe, right? Really interested in getting to know more about Kate, Jordan and Andre. Also very interesting turn of events with Marie being not completely on the good side, love it! Waiting for more plot twists and amazing events that are gonna turn upside down the worldview of our characters.

Can you blame parents for injecting their children with Compound V? Not sure about this question. I think yeah cause their children just don't have the choice here.

Now Boring AND Derivative!

I don't like teen dramas and somehow I'm still watching, I think because Prime Video doesn't have a lot of strong offerings in original content. I'm definitely not invested in any of the characters. If the government nuked the school right now I'd think "Hm, maybe we'll get a more interesting story and some characters with depth." I can't put my finger on why the political messaging feels more heavy-handed and divisive than The Boys. The Boys made fun of both sides, but this show seems a bit more spiteful, hovering dangerously close to Velma territory.

The more I'm watching this the more I want a nuclear device detonated on top these characters. I can't tell if I hate the "good" characters more, or the "bad" characters more. This episode features a lot of people processing their feelings, and frankly, X-Men probably did it better. Also every other superhero thing ever made.

I have a lot of questions about how the weapons they use on superheroes work.
