GOOD EPISODE, CONFUSING ENDING
SlummyT6 October 2023
This episode is another good one, I must say I am enjoying this show more then most recent Disney+ shows

I had myself routing for the bad guys this episode as tek knight being introduced who is pointed more a villian even though he is trying to help discover the WHOLE truth emphasis on the hole

Episode 4 left me with a sense of confusion with its ending I did watch the snippet of episode 5 which seems although they will explain this but I can't help feeling like this is questionable way to end an episode

I've rated this episode with an 8 for me they have all been an 8 which is good and I am eager to see more.

This is not The Boys.
wms-9274130 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Gen V is a spin-off of the popular Amazon Prime series The Boys, and it has several things in common with its hugely successful predecessor. First, there's a lot of blood. Second, people die in spectacular and twisted ways. Third, if you're in the right head space it's rather funny. Fourth, and most important of all to me, you never can be really certain what will happen next.

The Whole Truth, episode four of season one, started with a creative but apparently non-lethal comeuppance for a God U student who pretty obviously used his powers for sexual gratification. It ended with a stunning what-was-that moment which left me wanting very much to watch the next episode immediately.

I found myself not terribly impressed with the show at first, and I didn't find any humor at all in episode one. It has grown on me as I watched, and I have grown more interested and involved with the characters. I suspect that after I finish the first season, I'll go back and re-watch it, to see if caring about the characters makes these early episodes more fun for me.

In the meantime, I have really grown to detest reading these reviews and seeing the phrase "Lazy writing" over and over. If I cannot predict what will happen next, or who's gonna die, or who's gonna kill them, or who's gonna have sex next with what person - and what gender(s) will be involved! - this is not lazy writing. This is fresh and inventive television, which is why I fell for The Boys in the first place. I think I'm falling for Gen V too. I can barely wait for episode five.

S1.E4 - This And The Previous Episode Are A Huge Upgrade [8/10]

Warning: Spoilers
(S1. E4) My Reaction / Review for Gen V Season 1 Episode 4 ''The Whole Truth''. Episode 3 was good and I gave it a rating of 7.6/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. What happened? Marie made this guy's pee pee explode? That's so cruel and evil. Golden Boy's brother seems like an interesting character. Emma seems to like him too. Is Sam schizophrenic? Because he hears voices and stuff? Marie and Jordan kissing? Damn, I didn't see that coming. The videos with tek Knight having sex with objects was kinda funny. Wait, Emma can become super big not just super small? That's so cool. The ending is so confusing, what happened? Overall this was a very entertaining episode, my rating is 8/10.

Did I miss something to do with the ending?
markwha9 October 2023
I'm still in agreement that this is a solid 8 as have been each of the previous episodes and show in general, but the ending left me scratching my head and wondering if I missed something. I'll definitely have to hit up YouTube for a streamers episode breakdown.

I also feel like I've seen way too many penises in this show and it's starting to give of some sexist against men vibes - I hope that gets remedied quickly, as there's no place for modern day identity politics in a universe such as this - one of my favourite aspects of shows that come out of The Boys universe is that they're all a nice light hearted escape from the absurdity of the world today.

Still love the show despite these minor gripes, and I'm eagerly awaiting the next episodes.

The Bagel😂

Warning: Spoilers
And the plot thickens...

Firstly, I like Sam. The poor dude clearly has issues but he doesn't seem like a total psychopath. I'm already really invested in his character. I liked some of his conversations with Emma too, even if they did get really generic at times.

And Tek was freakin' hilarious. All of the Whole Truth scenes had me dying of laughter. The "hole" twist was kind of strange but meh.

And I'll admit I also looked up a synopsis for the next episode because the closing frames also confused me a bit. I think I avoided spoilers though.

This has been a pretty good show. I think just about all of the acting has been great and I dare say each episode has been better than the last.

I like Waterworld
garabedian12325 April 2024
I guess i kinda am enjoying the show. But it doesnt make any sense.

Is it the editing? All of a sudden MC is asking Jake from Supernatural for help, then suddenly she is in his room...he is naked..but she is not and the door is being broken down.

I for real thought the rest of the episode was taking place inside his head and that this was part of his psychic powers. There was just no indication as to what happened. But No. The mc really blew up his dick and is surprised for some reason. As if she hadnt done the exact same thing to her father when she was a child. But lets not spend any more time thinking about that and lets move on to making fun of waterworld. And How does the small girl grow again? Anyone? She eats? What? How much? Does she even know?

What happened? Did they lose the recorded footage towards the end? XD

Warning: Spoilers
I mean, like, did they change writers halfway through the episode? The detective character could have been immense and a very interesting story for a bunch of episodes and this lazy writing about "his proclivity" was like wha... why? Writers, why? Marie confesses because he pushes her and now it's all useless because he's been blackmailed for his holes fetish. Seriously, that was just embarrassing.

I am still struggling to find a villain in this story that can match the overwhelming power of Homelander, which is one of the most awesome things about The Boys, that the powerless go against this God-like unbeatable figure. Instead, they have a group of people that have identity conflicts with a dead friend that is the detonator for them to uncover the whole research facility thing, end of the story. That's just bloody flat. The detective could have made things really complicated for the heroes and now he's just gone. Four episodes into the show and I just don't know where they are going now. For all I see, there is a secret lab that isn't so secret and they have killed all the stakes so... what are they doing next?

Better Than the Last Episode but Still a Pretty Bad Show
infinitetyler8 October 2023
This is in The BoysEU, but at its core it's a teen drama, and I'm not a teenage girl so therefore this isn't made for me. I'm not sure who this is made for. It's not for old people, it's not for young people, it's not for liberals, it's not for conservatives, it's not for people who like superheroes, or comedy, or good dialogue, or action scenes, storytelling, or character development.

I get it, all the characters have PTSD they haven't worked through and they all want to be the most famous superhero. And they're thirsty.

I'm a little confused by this choice in the portrayal of Tek Knight. I was looking forward to his appearance in The Boys, but now I don't think I care. The comics made him out to be more like Batman, and having a billionaire crime fighter without powers and a bunch of gadgets is arguably more entertaining than this guy. This guy isn't funny at all, but probably a lot cheaper to produce. The part they're keeping the same about him doesn't make sense when you change his relationship with technology. I know they changed some stuff around for The Boys, but they probably should have just made up a new character and given him a fetish that makes sense in this instance instead of appropriating Tek Knight. This is lazy writing and the writers' loose definition of the word "adaptation" ventures into Wheel of Time territory. Actually it gets worse the more I think about it (just like GenV!) because The Deep said something about convincing Tek Knight to go green in an episode of The Boys. Go green with what? He looks like he drives a Tesla to his job in middle management every day.

I don't understand the motivation behind the corporate entities. Like, why are they doing all of this besides "Because Vought"? I also don't understand why it's okay to show several dudes' junk but not topless women.

This episode is a slight improvement on the last one because it's not trying to be one of those shows/movies about high schoolers trying to win a dance contest or whatever, but it's not much of a- STEP UP. Get it?

GenV is pretty bad and I can't say I recommend it to anyone.

Too much
rbkglz7 October 2023
Listen I'm watching this only for Alexander Calvert & Jensen Ackles since I don't know the rest of the cast.

However all the sexual things that happen every 5 minutes. What is the reason for that? Everyone naked & nonsense jokes about it too it's making it so uncomfortable to watch it for me. I wouldn't continue watching it for how the character have been destroyed by that but like I said I'm just watching it for Alex & Jensen

If you remove all the too explicit sex things you have a great show & characters I hope they don't destroy with sexual things to Emma & Sam characters who have been good characters so far in that twisted story.
